About Nominal

Nominal is building the connected test and operations platform powering the world's most advanced hardware systems, from spacecraft and autonomous vehicles to next-generation defense programs. Our platform gives hardware engineering teams a single place to ingest data, analyze performance, automate test execution, and collaborate across every phase of development, so they can move faster without sacrificing safety or precision. We're a fast-moving team that owns problems end-to-end, works across disciplines, and thrives at the intersection of hardware and software.

We serve top-tier commercial and defense customers, from autonomy leaders like Anduril and Shield AI to next-generation aerospace teams like Hermeus and REGENT, and performance engineering teams like Pratt Miller Motorsports, alongside mission partners within the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force on programs where failure isn’t an option. We’re backed by Sequoia, General Catalyst, Founders Fund, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed. Our team draws from SpaceX, Palantir, Anduril, Applied Intuition, and other leading companies, united by a common mission: giving hardware engineers the tools to build the future with speed, safety, and confidence.

Join Nominal as a Full-Stack Engineer and help build a product that powers how hardware engineers interact and validate complex, high-volume telemetry. You’ll work across the stack, from scalable back-end services that can compute and transform telemetry data to complex, highly performant web interfaces. You’ll collaborate closely with product, design, and infrastructure teams, shaping intuitive, reliable, and data-driven experiences from database to user interface. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of full-stack experience, an ability to reason through complex system architecture, a strong eye for intuitive UX for complex workflows, and a passion for turning technical challenges into seamless, impactful tools.

🚀 About the role
  • Build and enhance frontend features: Develop end-to-end functionality using modern frameworks like React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js
  • Design for scalability and performance: Architect reliable systems and APIs that handle large, real-time datasets efficiently. Optimize both frontend and backend performance to deliver fast, seamless user experiences under heavy load.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to validate designs, integrate APIs such as tRPC, and deliver features that are both technically sound and user-centric.
  • Drive technical excellence: Contribute to the architecture and direction of our platform, mentor early-career engineers, and stay current with emerging technologies in data and system design to continuously improve our stack.

⚡ Skills that accelerate us
  • Full-Stack Expertise: Experience in React, Next.js, and TypeScript, and/or backend experience in Java, Go, or Rust.
  • System Design & APIs: Skilled in building scalable distributed systems and integrating RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
  • Performance & Data: Experienced in optimizing large, real-time datasets and ensuring smooth, responsive interfaces.
  • UI & Visualization: Familiarity with Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, data visualization tools, and WebGL experience is a plus.
  • Collaboration: Communicates clearly across technical and non-technical teams.

✨ Benefits/Perks
  • 🏥 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 🏖️ Unlimited PTO and sick leave
  • 🍽️ Free lunch, snacks, and coffee
  • 🚀 Professional Development Stipend
  • ✈️ Annual company retreat
