Company

Pramaana Labs is a frontier AI lab building the verification layer for AI. Founded in 2025 and headquartered in Palo Alto, we turn complex human knowledge, including tax codes, legal rules, clinical guidelines and security protocols, into a formal representation, so every AI answer can be traced, challenged, and proved. Pramaana's architecture pairs foundation models trained to formalize and reason with a symbolic world model encoded in Lean 4. Pramaana was founded by a team out of Google, DeepMind, and Glean, combining frontier AI researchers and formal methods experts.

The Role

We’re looking for a full-stack Product Engineer to turn Pramaana’s research into products that customers and developers can use and trust. You’ll make complex reasoning accessible through intuitive interfaces and thoughtful developer experiences, helping users understand, inspect, and verify AI outputs.

This is a hands-on, early-stage role spanning customer-facing applications, developer APIs, and new product experiments. You won’t be confined to one feature or product. You’ll help discover what users need, build the experience across the stack, and improve it through real-world use.

You’ll work closely with product, design, engineering, and research, taking ownership of projects from the MVP through production. We’re looking for someone who cares about both how AI works and how people experience it - and who enjoys making complex technology feel straightforward.

What You'll Do
  • Build complete product experiences. Take problems from initial exploration to working software, owning the frontend, backend, data models, integrations, and testing needed to deliver a useful result.

  • Create thoughtful, responsive interfaces. Build workflows that help users bring in knowledge, review rules, ask questions, and inspect results and supporting evidence. Pay attention to interaction details, accessibility, loading states, and errors.

  • Develop reliable APIs and services. Build the systems behind document processing, asynchronous jobs, verification workflows, and customer integrations. Make progress, failures, and recovery understandable to users.

  • Turn research capabilities into usable products. Partner with researchers to integrate models, agents, and verification services. Help bridge the gap between a promising technical demonstration and an experience customers can depend on.

  • Learn directly from users. Work with customers and internal stakeholders to understand their workflows, test assumptions, and identify useful improvements. Instrument features and use feedback and usage data to guide iteration.

  • Own quality beyond launch. Write tests, review code, monitor the features you ship, and investigate production issues. Improve performance, security, and reliability as usage grows.

  • Build foundations that support multiple products. Create reusable components, services, and integration patterns. Make practical decisions about what to share, what to keep simple, and when a prototype needs a more durable implementation.

You Will Thrive in This Role If You Have
  • Minimum 2–3 years of software engineering experience, with examples of products or features you’ve shipped and improved. We value meaningful hands-on ownership more than a particular title or background.

  • Strong full-stack fundamentals. You’re comfortable building interfaces with TypeScript and React, backend services with Python or Node.js, and working with APIs and relational databases. You may be stronger on one side of the stack, but you’re willing to work across both.

  • Product judgment and attention to detail. You think about the user’s goal, question unnecessary complexity, and care whether the final experience is understandable—not just technically functional.

  • Practical experience delivering production software. You’re familiar with testing, version control, code review, deployment, and debugging. You understand the basics of authentication, authorization, and handling user data responsibly.

  • Comfort working through ambiguity. You can break a loosely defined problem into manageable steps, test an approach, and adjust as you learn.

  • Ownership, curiosity, and clear communication. You follow through on what you build, surface problems early, and work well with people across engineering, design, product, and research.

Especially Strong Candidates May Also Have
  • Experience building applications with LLM APIs, retrieval, agent workflows, or evaluation systems.

  • Experience with enterprise software, developer tools, or workflows involving complex documents, structured knowledge, or auditable decisions.

  • Strong frontend craft, including experience building editors, data visualizations, or other information-rich interfaces.

  • Experience taking a startup product, substantial side project, or open-source tool from an idea to active users.

Prior experience in formal verification is not required. We’re looking for strong builders who are curious about the technology and motivated to make it useful.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
