About the Role

At Opendoor our goal is to build the biggest, most trusted housing platform and set a new standard for how people move. We've combined our deep, proprietary data and operational expertise with the power of artificial intelligence to make online home selling and buying radically simple.

Our Security Engineering team is building intelligent systems that protect Opendoor and our customers while enabling unprecedented engineering velocity. We apply software engineering and AI to solve security problems across product, infrastructure, and operations by building guardrails where they matter, not gates where they don't.

What You'll Do
  • Build systems and AI agents that harden infrastructure, protect sensitive data, and facilitate safe transactions for home acquisition, resale, mortgage, title, and escrow.
  • Design workflows and CI/CD pipelines that enable engineers and non-engineers alike to design, build, and ship safely.
  • Set new standards and security patterns for AI maximalist engineering and operations.
  • Apply deep expertise in threat modeling and risk management to understand and enable complex business operations.
  • Mentor engineers and colleagues in security, software engineering, and AI.
Tech Stack
  • Languages: Python, Go, Ruby, Terraform
  • Corporate Platforms: Okta, AWS, Google Workspace, Slack, Jamf, CrowdStrike
  • Engineering: AWS, GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)

What You'll Need
  • Deep conviction that AI and automation should eliminate manual work humans shouldn't be doing anyway. You're excited to replace developer toil and reactive firefighting with automated systems and guardrails.
  • Business enablement security mindset - measuring security success by business impact, which means informed risk taking.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
  • Expertise in cloud security architecture, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and identity management.
  • Humility and genuine curiosity—you're as excited to learn and enable the business and your colleagues as you are to utilize cutting edge tools and techniques in security and AI.
Bonus Points For
  • Incident response training and experience.
  • M.S. in Computer Science or security-focused graduate work.
