Who Are We
Voxel is building the future of Computer Vision and Machine Learning for operations, risk, and safety. We use computer vision and AI to enable existing security cameras to automatically detect hazards and high-risk activities, keep people safe and drive operational efficiencies. Our technology addresses the key cost drivers for workers’ compensation, general liability, and property damage, which cost US employers over $500 billion annually.
Voxel is seeking a Site Reliability / DevOps Engineer to join our growing Engineering team. This is a hands‑on, early‑career role ideal for an engineer who is eager to learn, comfortable operating in ambiguity, and excited to work cross‑functionally across the company.
You’ll help build, scale, and improve the infrastructure that powers our AI‑driven platform. While you’ll be supported by senior engineers, you’ll be expected to roll up your sleeves, ask questions, and take ownership of meaningful technical work from day one.
This role emphasizes learning, execution, and collaboration with exposure to modern DevOps practices, distributed systems, and production systems operating at scale.
What You'll Do
Contribute to the development and improvement of Voxel’s cloud infrastructure using modern DevOps and SRE best practices.
Help operate and support distributed systems with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
Write and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code, automation, and tooling to improve developer velocity and system stability.
Partner closely with software, ML, perception, security, and customer‑facing teams to support cross‑functional initiatives.
Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and post‑incident improvements (with mentorship and support).
Learn how to balance speed, reliability, and risk in a fast‑moving startup environment.
Continuously improve documentation, onboarding materials, and internal tooling as the organization scales.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
1–3 years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, or backend‑leaning software engineering role.
Comfort writing production‑quality code in at least one general‑purpose language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or similar).
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts and at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
Exposure to infrastructure‑as‑code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) or strong interest in learning them.
Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Curiosity, a growth mindset, and comfort working in ambiguous, fast‑evolving
environments.
Exposure to monitoring, alerting, and observability tools.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.
Interest in or exposure to machine learning systems or data‑heavy platforms.
Understanding of security, compliance, or privacy concepts (e.g., GDPR) is a plus but not required.
