Browserbase powers web browsing capabilities for AI agents and applications. We manage headless browser infrastructure for automations that interact with websites, fill out forms, and replicate user actions.

We raised a $40M Series B last year and are continuing to grow, fast. Backed by Kleiner Perkins, CRV, and Notable Capital, our fast-moving team is building on our CEO's founding vision to power the world's best AI tools and help everyone automate the web.

Stagehand is Browserbase’s framework for automating browsers with code. The Stagehand team creates developer tools at the intersection of AI and open source — making browser automation smarter, simpler, and more powerful.

What you'll do
  • Build, operate, and grow the Stagehand framework — developer-first APIs with ~2M monthly downloads and ~17k stars. Design and implement tools that make automating the web simple and powerful.

  • Work with frontier AI labs (OpenAI, Google, and others) to improve models, benchmark capabilities, and make them more accessible to developers.

  • Deploy production-ready AI solutions that impact millions of customers, shaping the future of the web.

  • Help define, scope, and prioritize projects that shape the future of developer tooling.

  • Document as you go and share your knowledge with the team.

Technical skills:
  • Strong coding skills: preferably TypeScript; also valuable: Python/Go.

  • Experience building developer tools, frameworks, or libraries that others depend on.

  • Experience building AI agents/LLMs, distributed systems, or applying reinforcement learning.

  • Familiarity with web automation frameworks (Puppeteer, Playwright, Selenium) or web scraping; huge bonus: Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) experience.

  • Track record of open source contributions or public developer projects.

You're a good fit if you:
  • Have high agency: you can set direction, make judgment calls, and drive projects forward without waiting for perfect clarity.

  • Have a strong sense of ownership and bias toward action.

  • Can drive projects independently, with high accountability without much outside input.

  • Communicate clearly in writing and in person, and choose the right medium for the message.

  • Are adaptable and able to dive into unfamiliar systems, learn quickly, and make sound technical decisions.

  • Enjoy collaborating with a small, ambitious team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Are excited to work 5 days a week in our San Francisco HQ (or open to relocating here).

Why join us:
  • Shape the future of browser automation with AI-driven developer tools.

  • Work in the open: collaborate with and contribute to the broader open source community.

  • Collaborate with a small, high-bar team of engineers who care deeply about quality.

  • Join an ambitious startup where your impact will be felt immediately.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
