Build and ship end-to-end features and systems for an AI-native commercial insurance broker. Design backend architecture, implement durable workflow orchestration, productionize agentic LLM applications, and build RAG/search pipelines. Work directly with founders, brokers, and customers to iterate and deploy AI-driven automation and customer-facing products.
The summary above was generated by AI
At Coverwatch we are building the next-generation AI-native commercial insurance broker. Commercial insurance is a $1T market where the core work still runs on email, PDFs, spreadsheets, and manual labor. Our technology enables us to offer better coverage faster and win against the 40,000 traditional commercial insurance brokers in the US.
We’re a team of 2nd time founders (ex-YC, Pear VC) who previously built a tech-enabled services company, and worked at companies like Google, Goldman Sachs etc

⚒️ The Role
This is a rare opportunity. You’ll be on the ground floor reinventing a heavily manual industry from day one. Your decisions will shape the technical DNA of the company and the future of the insurance industry. You’ll work directly with the founders and customers every day.

Our product:
  • Internal tooling and AI agents to automate end-to-end insurance workflows. We are our own customer and we iterate fast to turn manual operation into software.
  • Customer-facing portal and apps. A modern home to manage insurance policies, renewals and claims. We also build products that intergrate into customers’ systems of record to help with sales.

At Coverwatch you will:
  • Ship end-to-end features autonomously. You'll take a problem from conversation to production without hand-holding. Design it, build it, deploy it, own it.
  • Design and architect systems from scratch. You'll make foundational technical decisions that compound as we grow.
  • Build real world AI used daily. You’ll prototype, productionize and evaluate AI workflows that will be used by our brokers to manage risk.
  • Work directly with brokers and customers. Understand the problem firsthand, watch your workflows in action and iterate based on real outcomes.

💡 About you
Above all, you’re excited about taking on the schlep and working hard to reinvent an old industry.
Technically, you have 2–5 years of experience building production software, with strength in:
  • Backend architecture, system design and writing clean, production-quality code
  • Workflow orchestration with experience in durable execution frameworks like Temporal
  • Agentic AI systems and LLM-based applications with experience in orchestration frameworks like langchain, pydantic-ai, agno etc
  • RAG, search and retrieval pipelines with experience building your own
  • Building and optimizing agentic code setups.

You're fluent in AI-assisted development: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, custom MCP setups, the works. You use these tools to compound your existing strong technical skills.

💻 Our Stack
  • Frontend: Nextjs, React, Typescript
  • Backend: Python, FastAPI, Temporal, Pydantic

📈 Our offer
  • Meaningful equity in an early stage company (up to 1%)
  • World-class team: working directly with experienced founders who've built and scaled AI products
  • Technical complexity: we have no shortage of hard problems to solve, automating a whole industry is no small feat

Compensation
The base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $180,000 per year.
