Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineering Intern to join our development team for the summer. In this role, you will work on real-world applications used by public safety customers. You will gain hands-on experience across the entire software development lifecycle, working on both established desktop applications (WPF/.NET) and our next-generation web and cloud platforms (Angular/Azure).

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Develop & Maintain: Write clean, scalable code using C# and .NET frameworks to enhance our core public safety products.

  • Modernize Interfaces: Assist in designing and implementing UI features using WPF (Windows Presentation Foundation) and transitioning specific workflows to web-based interfaces using Angular.

  • Cloud Integration: Work with the team to deploy services and manage resources within Microsoft Azure, helping us improve scalability and reliability.

  • Collaborate: Participate in daily stand-ups, code reviews, and sprint planning within an Agile environment.

  • Problem Solve: Troubleshoot and debug complex issues to ensure the high availability required for public safety software.

Who You Are (Qualifications)

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and graduating December 1st, 2026 or later.

  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.

  • Academic or project experience with C#, Java, or C++.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and an interest in technology that serves the public good.

Bonus Points (Preferred Skills)

  • Experience with WPF or XAML.

  • Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (specifically Angular or React).

  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).

  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and SQL databases.

What You’ll Gain

  • Mentorship: You will be paired with a Senior Engineer for code reviews and career guidance.

  • Impact: The features you build will be used by real public safety professionals.

  • Hybrid Exposure: You will leave with experience in both desktop application architecture and modern cloud/web patterns.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
