Granica
Software Engineering Intern — Foundational Data Systems for AI (Summer 2026)
Location: Downtown Mountain View, CA (office-based, 5 days/week)
Team: Data Platform
We’re looking for Software Engineering Interns to join Granica’s Data Platform team for Summer 2026.
You’ll work on the same Foundational Data Systems that power Granica’s platform—core infrastructure responsible for maintaining, organizing, and optimizing large-scale structured data so it can be efficiently used for analytics and AI.
As an intern, you’ll join a small, high-impact engineering team and work directly with experienced engineers on real systems that operate over petabyte-scale enterprise datasets. Projects may involve distributed compute, data layout optimization, table maintenance systems, or metadata infrastructure.
Interns are treated as full engineers at Granica. You’ll own a well-scoped technical project, collaborate closely with your team, and ship production-quality code by the end of the internship.
The MissionAI today is constrained not just by model design, but by the inefficiency of the data that feeds it. At scale, redundant bytes, poorly organized datasets, and inefficient data paths translate directly into higher cost, slower iteration, and wasted energy.
Granica’s mission is to remove that inefficiency at the foundation. We design self-optimizing data infrastructure—systems that continuously reorganize, compress, and maintain structured data so it can be learned from efficiently and reliably by AI systems.
What You’ll DoDesign and implement components of large-scale data infrastructure systems
Contribute to systems that maintain and optimize large tabular datasets
Build or improve distributed data processing pipelines
Work on systems related to data layout, compression, and table maintenance
Develop tooling for reliability, testing, and observability
Collaborate with engineers and researchers to turn new ideas into working systems
Your internship project will be scoped so that you deliver a meaningful improvement to one of Granica’s production systems.
