Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join Mastercard's AWS Platform Engineering Team. You will be responsible for shaping technical vision, driving innovation, and ensuring delivery excellence across designing, building, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and highly available cloud platform on AWS. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure optimal platform performance, cost efficiency, and alignment with best practices.
This role combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership to deliver high-quality, customer-centric solutions that align with business objectives. The ideal candidate is expected to have a strong understanding of AWS Platform & Services, Software Engineering, DevOps practices, and Problem solving skills.
The Role• Define and execute the AWS Platform Engineering Team's roadmap aligned with organizational goals.• Lead and mentor Engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.• Champion best practices and continuous improvement across the Software Development and AWS Platform Engineering.
Technical Excellence• Shape the long-term vision and roadmap for AWS Platform, internal developer platforms, API services, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) solutions• Drive architectural decisions for scalable, reliable, and secure cloud services, performing code reviews and providing technical guidance..• Eliminate manual efforts by building automation for account provisioning, resource management, and compliance using tools like AWS CDK.
Delivery & Operations• Manage end-to-end delivery of AWS platform services, software products, ensuring quality and timeliness.• Partner with product managers and other engineering teams to define requirements, manage dependencies, and ensure the AWS platform meets customer needs• Monitor KPIs and implement strategies for operational efficiency.
All About You • Hands-on experience with AWS services like Lambda, EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, etc.• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (AWS CDK).• Strong knowledge of networking in AWS (VPC, Direct Connect, PrivateLink, Transit Gateway, etc.).• Experience with CI/CD tools like AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, BitBucket/GitHub, Artifactory, Sonarqube, etc.• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and experience applying them in languages like Python or Java.• Scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages.• Strong knowledge of the best practices around Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting solutions.• Experience with software deployment and configuration automation.• Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale systems.• Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks.• Systematic problem-solving approach, with effective communication skills and a sense of drive.
Preferred Qualifications• AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer.• Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.• Hands-on experience with AWS Control Tower, including setting up guardrails, managing Service Control Policies (SCPs), and configuring Landing Zones.• Knowledge of security best practices and frameworks.
