About the Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and grow our small and mighty Growth Engineering team. This is a highly visible and impactful leadership role where you’ll help shape and execute on our growth strategy through technical excellence, experimentation, and deep customer understanding.

You will support, mentor, and grow a team of talented engineers while building scalable systems that drive growth and engagement across Opendoor’s platform. Your leadership will set the standard for engineering and operational excellence and foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Need
  • Management Experience: Proven experience as an Engineering Manager, with a strong track record of technical leadership and impactful contributions.
    • 2+ years of management experience leading full-stack consumer-facing engineering teams
    • 2+ years of experience leading Growth Engineering teams to drive top-of-funnel conversion
  • Technical Skills: 6+ years of prior experience as a full-stack or frontend-focused engineer
    • Expertise in our frontend stack: Javascript/TypeScript, React, GraphQL, NextJS, and Remix. 
    • Experience running A/B tests with experimentation platforms (Amplitude Experiment, Optimizely, etc.)
    • Experience with backend development (Go, Ruby, Postgres)
  • Product Sense: Ability to make data-driven product decisions, working with Product, Marketing, and other stakeholders to build products that start and end with the customer.
    • Experience with analyzing product metrics using analytics platforms (Amazon Quicksight, Mode, Hex, Amplitude, etc.)
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional projects, mentor and coach reports, and take initiative in driving technical excellence.
  • Architectural Skills: Deep understanding of software architecture, with the ability to evaluate architectural trade-offs and propose improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex technical challenges independently.

  • Build and lead a high-performing growth engineering team, focusing on talent development, hiring, and shipping fast.
  • Set and maintain high standards for engineering and operational practices, aligning the team with company goals and business impact.
  • Drive growth outcomes through deep technical expertise in experimentation platforms, data-driven decision-making, and modern web development.
  • Understand customer needs deeply and collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify and execute on impactful growth opportunities.
Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $186,400-$233,000 annually, plus RSUs and bonuses. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on your qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive package of benefits including unlimited PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) to eligible employees.
