We're looking for a QA Engineering Lead to establish and drive quality initiatives across Somewear's platform. Working from our San Francisco or Chicago offices, you will build and lead our quality organization while ensuring our solutions meet the rigorous demands of mission-critical operations.
Join us to make an impact "Recently, the United States Air National Guard 131st Rescue Squadron successfully employed Somewear's unique ATAK integration to coordinate and monitor a civilian rescue operation 1,200 miles off the U.S. Pacific coast. The consistent communications and situational awareness across rescue personnel, medical personnel, aircrafts, and the operations center led to an efficient rescue mission that took half of the expected time to complete."
What you'll do
Own and shape the quality strategy across our platform ecosystem of mobile, web, and hardware
Drive test automation initiatives with a pragmatic approach to balancing coverage and velocity
Lead quality decisions independently, weighing trade-offs between perfectionism and shipping velocity
Interface between engineering teams, mission operations, and end-users as the primary quality advocate
Make data-driven decisions about quality risks and testing investments
Lead root cause analysis for complex, cross-platform issues
Build scalable, practical processes for regression testing and release validation
Present quality insights and recommendations to leadership and stake holders
Foster a quality-first mindset while maintaining focus on business objectives
Required Experience
5+ years of QA experience
Proven track record establishing QA processes in multi-platform environments
Experience leading test automation initiatives
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Experience with mission-critical or regulated software development
Proficiency in modern testing frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript)
Excellence in cross-functional communication and stakeholder management
Experience developing test strategies across hardware and software platforms
Nice to Have
Experience with satellite communications or IoT devices
Background in defense or emergency response software
Experience working with government customers
Knowledge of ATAK or similar tactical systems
Experience with distributed systems testing

Salary Range:
San Francisco: $150,000 - $165,000 per year
Chicago: $145,000 - $160,000 per year
