Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.
Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.
TEAM
“Kaizen” is the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement, accomplished through cycles of reflection and action. Woven by Toyota’s Integration team is developing software tools and practices to achieve “Kaizen” in automated driving. Our goal is to operationalize modern CI/CD processes with a data-first approach to deliver performant software to our customers.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a passionate engineer who is excited to contribute to autonomous driving and driver assist systems. As part of this role you will help build and maintain the software release systems, ensuring that software is delivered on time and with high quality. Your goal will be to release new autonomous driving software daily, monitoring new changes to software prior to releasing new software and investigating anomalies after the new software is cut. In addition you’ll aim to improve the development velocity via process changes, simulation testing, or other means, while maintaining a stable and robust main software branch. Experience in release operations and CI/CD releases process is preferred, especially in a safety critical environment such as automotive, aerospace, aeronautics, medical, etc. You will work cross-functionally with engineers developing and deploying CI/CD, simulation engineers, triage engineers, and autonomy development engineers in order to root cause regressions and in your endeavor to keep the main branch bug free.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Release Workflow Management: Support and enhance the release workflow, including daily release builds and production releases.
- CI/CD Pipeline Monitoring: Monitor and investigate anomalies revealed via CI/CD testing, software in the loop (SIL) testing, Hardware in the loop (HIL) testing, closed course vehicle testing, and initial autonomous public road testing in order to enable testing of new features and bug fixes.
- Large corpus data review: Utilize automated testing, tools, and dashboarding in order to make sense of the large corpus of simulation data created for each release and created during nightly tests.
- Enhanced Testing and Monitoring: Implementation of more rigorous triage processes to root cause the source of incoming bugs/regressions and the utilization of tools like Arene SPL for downstream breakages testing.
- Integration with Production: Collaborate with production automotive release processes and influence best practices within the organization.
- Data-Driven Analysis: Utilize data-driven analysis to identify critical issues, prioritize efforts, and ensure optimal driving performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design upcoming features, requirements, and estimate their impact on driving performance.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the release process, including changelogs, performance expectations, and risk assessments. Introduce scalable methods of automating reports and traceability.
- Work Breakdown: 90% release execution, 5% process improvement, 5% documentation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of professional experience in related field.
- General understanding of common software development practices and DevOps.
- Familiarity in CI/CD tools and practices with experience in production environments.
- Experience with release management using GitHub Enterprise or similar tools.
- Track record of delivering high value results with consistent throughput to internal and external customers.
NICE TO HAVES
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, M.S. a plus.
- Experience shipping automotive production software, either OEM or Tier1. OTA specialization a bonus
- Proficiency in data science, statistics, root cause analysis, failure analysis.
- A generalist or robotics background, and a strong desire to learn new technical skills.
- Strong grasp of automated driving technologies spanning planning, control, perception, and localization.
- Experience with Python, C++, and Linux
