CVS Health is seeking an experienced Workday Functional & Technical Expert specializing in Core HCM and Core Compensation to join our HR Technology team (supporting HR and Payroll operations). This role partners closely with CVS Health’s HR, Total Rewards, Legal, and global stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality Workday technology solutions. You will establish cross-functional relationships, work with technical and non-technical partners, and provide integral support for Human Resources and Payroll organizations for their technology needs.  You will lead strategic planning, configuration, enhancements, and ensure solutions and initiatives are effectively designed and implemented throughout the organization.

Onsite hybrid work is available in Richardson, TX; Scottsdale, AZ; Harford, CT or Woonsocket, RI; remote is considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business partners and technical stakeholders to support Workday Core HCM and Compensation, developing vision, goals, and product roadmap.
  • Ensure products meet or exceed business needs through timely delivery of enhancements, projects, and defect fixes, with optimal scalable solutions.
  • Lead requirements gathering, process optimization, fit-gap, functional design, configuration, documentation, and testing.
  • Manage Workday semi-annual releases, assessing impacts, coordinating regression testing, and communicating changes.
  • Stay current on new Workday capabilities and evaluate applicability to CVS Health, communicating changes that could impact business.
  • Lead the translation of business requirements to technical solutions, communicating appropriate timelines.
  • Maintain documentation, approvals and system artifacts.
  • Create and support UAT plans, scenarios, and results.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner, challenging existing HR and Payroll processes and operational practices, and introducing innovative solutions that influence and improve business decisions.
  • Provide mentoring, strategic direction, and guidance to team members and partner teams, supporting growth and ensuring alignment with product and organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience leading Workday Core HCM and Compensation initiatives
  • 7+ years of experience partnering with business stakeholders to configure, optimize, and maintain Workday business processes and deliver scalable solutions
  • 5+ years of experience developing calculated fields, creating advanced reports, performing data audits, and managing complex Workday configurations
  • 5+ years of experience gathering requirements, conducting fit‑gap analyses, designing functional solutions, configuring Workday, supporting user acceptance testing, and maintaining overall system health
  • 2+ years of experience partnering with SaaS vendors to deliver effective business solutions
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams in a matrixed organization while effectively managing multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting HR systems for large organizations, including non‑exempt and international employee populations
  • Experience working in a Product Model with ownership of product strategy, delivery, and overall product health
  • Strong organizational, analytical, time management, communication, problem‑solving, and customer service skills
  • Experience in Project Management, Change Management, and Communications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
