Solution Lead - SAP Sales & Distribution
Caterpillar is seeking an SAP SD Solution Lead to join our Order-to-Cash (OTC) team and play a key role in shaping the future of our enterprise digital landscape. This is an opportunity to lead high-impact initiatives that directly support revenue operations and large-scale transformation programs.
As a Solution Lead, you will be at the forefront of designing and delivering innovative SAP solutions that power complex global operations. You'll leverage your deep expertise in SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) to architect and implement solutions across the full order lifecycle-from pricing and order management to invoicing and integration. This includes working with advanced capabilities such as configurable manufacturing scenarios, pricing procedures, and system integrations (EDI, APIs). This role is ideal for a seasoned SAP professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, and global environment.
You will work alongside business leaders, architects, and cross-functional IT teams to translate complex business needs into scalable, future-ready solutions. What You Will Do:
  • Deliver SAP SD/OTC solutions aligned to enterprise templates and business objectives.
  • Offer expert guidance to SAP SD/OTC support teams and integration partners.
  • Analyze, document, and revise business processes and system logic as needed.
  • Collaborate with business partners to understand operations and benchmark best practices.
  • Advise on business case analysis and multi-generational product planning.
  • Design business processes that support Caterpillar's strategic goals.
  • Provide recommendations to Process Owners and serve as a subject matter consultant.
  • Lead and drive complex solution implementations and provide project leadership.
  • Create high-level test plans to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing and script sign-off for key releases.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication and leadership.
  • Identify opportunities, assess risks, and ensure alignment with strategic outcomes.
  • Design and configure pricing procedures, including condition tables and types.
  • Demonstrate expertise in OTC processes and related business functions.

What You Have:
  • Core Application Systems: Extensive knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Products and Services: Working knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Analytical Thinking: Expert knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Application Delivery Process: Extensive knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, and formal application delivery methodologies; ability to utilize these to deliver new or enhanced applications.
  • Architecture Modeling: Working knowledge of Architecture Modeling; ability to develop and modify enterprise architecture through conceptual, logical and physical approaches.
  • Information Security Technologies: Basic knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with information security issues; ability to protect information security across the organization using encryption technologies and appropriate security software.
  • System and Technology Integration: Expert knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Four-year bachelor's degree preferably in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field.
  • Progressive SAP or other equivalent ERP (QAD) experience.
  • Deep understanding of core SAP SD functions, including comprehensive knowledge of invoicing, pricing procedures, sales order conversions, loan processes, system configuration (SPRO), and interface (EDI, API's) management.
  • Demonstrated leadership in large-scale ERP implementations and transformations.
  • Experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software on a scale.
  • Adept at collaborating with business partners to translate requirements into detailed functional designs & specifications.
  • Highly skilled in complex problem-solving and excelling in dynamic, challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar dealer network, facilities, product structure, and machine ordering landscape and logistics
  • SAP Certified Associate - Sales
  • Experience with brownfield uplift from ECC to S4/HANA
  • Effective presentation, oral, and written communication abilities.

Additional Info:
  • The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL, Dallas, TX
  • 5 DAYS ONSITE MANDATORY
  • Ability to travel globally up to 20%.
  • Relocation is NOT available.

Summary Pay Range:
$147,760.00 - $221,640.00
