The Solution Sales Executive (SSE) drives growth for Optum Financial's Health Benefit Accounts portfolio within the Employer market. This role requires deep familiarity with the health benefits ecosystem, solid broker/consultant relationships, and a consistent record of success delivering results in competitive, complex markets.
You will be accountable for an assigned geographic territory, representing Optum Financial solutions to distribution partners and employer clients. Success requires effective navigation of the consultant and broker community, strategic relationship management, and the ability to articulate differentiated value in a crowded marketplace.
This position supports our Mid-Market customers within the New York region. While the posted base compensation range for this role is $60,000-$130,000, highly qualified candidates with deep industry experience and established client relationships may be considered toward the higher end of the approved salary band. This posted range reflects base salary only and does not include the sales incentive plan, which is offered separately in accordance with the role's commission structure.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Build, deepen, and maintain strategic relationships with consultants, brokers, and distribution partners across your assigned territory
  • Market Health Benefit Accounts (HSA, HRA, FSA) and related solutions to employer groups through established channels
  • Grow and manage consultative relationships with key employer clients; understand client goals, assess needs, and demonstrate the value delivered by Optum Financial solutions
  • Collaborate across a highly matrixed organization to develop strategies that increase value for clients and drive broader UnitedHealth Group impact
  • Deliver compelling value stories aligned to client strategy, presenting to stakeholders at all levels including executives, decision makers, and key influencers
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to VP- and C Suite level contacts, influencing decisions and driving revenue growth
  • Represent Optum Financial with professionalism, integrity, and subject-matter expertise in both virtual and onsite meetings

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of sales development or business development experience calling on decision makers and economic buyers
  • 5+ years of sales/marketing experience building and growing a book of business in the health insurance or financial services industry (Carrier, TPA, or Broker experience required)
  • 5+ years of experience working with:
    • Consumer-Directed Healthcare (HSA/HRA/FSA)
    • Ancillary/Specialty Benefits
    • Wellness programs
    • COBRA
    • Investment products
  • 5+ years of experience using Microsoft Office and a CRM platform (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Based in New York City or Boston
  • Willing or ability to travel up to 50%

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience engaging and influencing C Suite and senior leadership in a matrixed organization
  • Experience navigating and collaborating across UHG, Optum, and/or UHC organizations
  • Demonstrated track record of exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth in competitive markets
  • Proven exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $60,000 to $130,000 annually based on full-time employment. This role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
