This position requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft Azure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation, and cloud security, with the ability to operate independently in a production environment. The Senior Cloud Engineer is also expected to influence standards, mentor other engineers, and raise the overall technical bar of the cloud platform.

Job Responsibilities for the Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer:

Cloud Architecture & Engineering

  • Design, implement, and operate scalable, secure Azure infrastructure across multiple environments

  • Architect and maintain Azure IaaS and PaaS workloads with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and cost efficiency

  • Support hybrid and enterprise Azure architectures, including Entra ID, Microsoft Active Directory (On-premises), secure networking, and on-prem integrations

  • Apply Azure Well-Architected Framework principles across security, reliability, performance, cost, and operational excellence

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Own and evolve Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform and/or Bicep

  • Build fully automated, repeatable deployments for Azure resources and platform components

  • Develop automation using PowerShell (Python a plus) to eliminate manual operational tasks

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions for infrastructure delivery

Security & Governance

  • Implement and enforce Azure security controls including RBAC, Azure Policy, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, and secure networking patterns

  • Ensure cloud environments meet compliance and audit requirements common to regulated healthcare systems

  • Partner with Security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and continuously improve cloud security posture

Operations & Reliability

  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex infrastructure and platform issues

  • Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability using Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tooling

  • Support high-availability and disaster recovery designs for critical production workloads

  • Participate in on-call or escalation rotations as a senior escalation point

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and technically guide mid-level and junior cloud engineers

    · Contribute to platform standards, best practices, and architectural decision-making

  • Collaborate closely with DevOps, Application, Database, and Security teams

  • Produce and maintain clear technical documentation for architectures, standards, and operational procedures

Job Requirements for the Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or and equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering roles

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating Microsoft Azure environments

  • Strong expertise in Azure IaaS and PaaS services

  • Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM)

  • Strong scripting and automation skills, especially PowerShell

  • Deep understanding of Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, firewalls, load balancers, private endpoints)

  • Experience supporting Windows Server and SQL Server workloads in Azure

  • Proven experience operating production environments with high availability and security requirements

  • Ability to work independently, make sound technical decisions, and own outcomes

Preferred Job Requirements for the Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer:

  • Experience with AKS / Kubernetes and containerized workload

  • Experience supporting SaaS or healthcare platforms in regulated environments

  • Familiarity with cost optimization, capacity planning, and performance tuning in Azure

  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical lead
