Sr. Claims Data Analyst

Required Qualifications: 
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence, or Analytics role.
  • Strong SQL (T-SQL) experience, including writing and troubleshooting complex queries and stored procedures.
  • Advanced Power BI experience, including dashboard development, reporting, and DAX.
  • Ability to work independently with large and complex datasets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations.
  • Experience collaborating with business stakeholders and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Insurance, Financial Services, or Claims Operations experience.
  • Knowledge of Personal Auto Insurance and claims data.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, DirectLake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Lakehouse environments.
  • Familiarity with actuarial concepts such as loss ratio, claim severity, and reserve adequacy.
  • Experience utilizing AI-assisted analytics and reporting tools.

About the role: 

Under the direction of the Director of Claims Reporting & Analytics, the Sr. Claims Data Analyst serves as a key analytics partner to Claims Operations. This role bridges the gap between business operations and technology by transforming complex claims data into meaningful dashboards, reporting, insights, and recommendations that drive business performance.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working with SQL and Power BI as they are partnering with business leaders to solve operational challenges and improve decision-making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures to support reporting, analysis, and operational decision-making.
  • Design, build, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reports utilizing Microsoft Fabric and DirectLake technologies.
  • Support the development of operational dashboards, including Casualty, SIU, and claims performance reporting.
  • Perform trend analysis, forecasting, and exploratory analytics to identify emerging risks and business opportunities.
  • Analyze claims data to identify leakage, payment anomalies, fraud indicators, and operational inefficiencies.
  • Develop performance scorecards and workforce productivity reporting.
  • Conduct statistical analyses to evaluate claim severity, closing ratios, reserve activity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Translate business questions into meaningful reporting and actionable insights.
  • Partner with IT and Data Engineering teams to ensure data integrity and reporting reliability.
  • Evaluate and implement AI-assisted analytics solutions to improve business outcomes.
  • Maintain reporting documentation, standards, and governance practices.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technology advancements, and analytics best practices.

Work Environment: 

  • Professional office environment or approved remote/hybrid setting.
  • Frequent use of SQL, Power BI, reporting platforms, and business intelligence tools.
  • Regular interaction with Claims Operations, IT, leadership teams, and key stakeholders.
  • Fast-paced environment requiring strong prioritization, organization, and analytical thinking.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and review reports across multiple screens.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
