About the Role

Happen Bank's Compliance Department is looking for a sharp, adaptable Lending Product Compliance Sr Manager to be a trusted advisor on the day-to-day compliance risks that come with every stage of the lending life cycle. In this role, you’ll advise on the laws, regulations, and regulatory rules that apply to our lending products and operations, and make sure the right controls are in place to mitigate those risks.
You’ll work across a broad range of operational areas, including marketing, applicant sourcing, application processing and underwriting, funding, account servicing, and partner oversight. Your regulatory focus will include ECOA, UDAAP, TILA, FCRA, MLA/SCRA, TCPA, GLBA, EFTA, ESIGN, and other federal and state lending-related laws and regulations.
If you thrive in a fast-moving, high-volume environment, enjoy juggling multiple projects and priorities, and like being the go-to partner for product and business teams, this role is for you. You’ll report directly to the Sr Director, Compliance Advisory.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with the Compliance Program Office to assess regulatory risk across lending product operations, spotting control gaps, flagging the areas of highest risk, and shaping practical mitigation strategies
  • Complete risk assessments that evaluate the quality of risk management across your areas of responsibility, and use your judgment to show leadership where controls are strong and where they need attention
  • Develop and maintain the policies, standards, and documented practices that set the principles of regulatory compliance for lending operations
  • Work side by side with business and product teams on multiple projects at once, including new launches, enhancements, and partner initiatives, to make sure they’re completed in a compliant way
  • Bring compliance principles to life by socializing them across the organization and helping build the procedures, controls, systems, and processes that put policy into practice
  • Help the Compliance Program Office develop regulation-based and role-based training on the laws, regulations, and policies that shape lending operations
  • Review testing and monitoring protocols to measure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and identify defects and deficiencies that need corrective action
  • Make sure material compliance issues, from any source, are recorded, tracked, and reported so they’re resolved appropriately and on time
  • Stay ahead of change by coordinating with Regulatory Change Management to identify new or updated laws, regulations, and guidance, then work with business leaders to operationalize requirements
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for examiners and auditors reviewing our lending compliance efforts
  • Turn complex analysis into clear, compelling reporting for oversight committees and management
  • Jump in wherever you’re needed across the Compliance Department, supporting teammates on areas like fair lending, community reinvestment, BSA/AML, issues management, policy and procedure development, and third-party oversight

About You

  • You bring 6+ years of banking or financial services experience, primarily in compliance, risk management and/or audit, and a bachelor’s degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • You have 3+ years of direct lending compliance experience with a focus on consumer credit, and a strong working knowledge of consumer protection laws, the risks they create, and the internal controls needed to mitigate them
  • You’re the person who keeps a dozen balls in the air and makes it look easy, whether that’s product launches, partner reviews, exam prep, or regulatory change, and you’d rather have a full plate than an empty one
  • You do your best work in a high-volume, fast-moving environment, and you move quickly without cutting corners
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and shifting direction, and you stay calm, adaptable, and focused when plans change (and they will)
  • You’re the person product and business teams call first because they trust your judgment, and you deliver quality results even when timelines are aggressive and priorities compete
  • You’re a self-starter who takes ownership and drives initiatives to resolution, keeping stakeholders informed on progress and raising your hand early when roadblocks appear
  • You’re a natural communicator and relationship builder who can influence decisions and drive change, and help product and business partners see compliance as a way to move faster, not a speed bump
  • You’re analytical and detail-oriented, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills and exceptional organization, and you can see the big picture while keeping the details accurate
  • You’re a quick study and endlessly curious, eager to learn our unique business model, advanced technology capabilities, and evolving regulatory environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification(s) such as Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or completion of specialized training in compliance (e.g., ABA Graduate School of Compliance Risk Management)
  • Experience supporting regulatory examination and compliance audits, including developing and tracking timely corrective action
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other Office products
