About the team

The global Content Acquisition team is responsible for sourcing and executing innovative content licensing deals across a range of content types and business models for The Roku Channel (TRC) AVOD and FAST live/linear service and Howdy SVOD service across US and international territories.

About the role

The Senior Content Acquisition Manager will be responsible for sourcing and executing innovative content licensing deals across a range of content types and business models for The Roku Channel (TRC) and Howdy in the US and select international markets. The ideal candidate brings a deep passion for and expertise in content in addition to extensive content licensing experience with studios, broadcasters and independent distributors. This person will have exceptional negotiation and analytical skills, content selection/programming experience and a passion for driving content goals and decisions. In addition, the candidate will be comfortable working in a high deal-volume, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, is a strong communicator comfortable with interfacing with internal/external senior executives and pays extreme attention to detail.

For California Only and New York - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $182,000 - $212,000 base annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

This role will be hybrid and in office Monday - Thursday with the option to work from home on Friday. 

What you’ll be doing
  • Content Acquisition & Deal Execution
    • Independently source, evaluate and acquire film and television content for AVOD, FAST and SVOD; set content mix, windowing and licensed rights strategies to fulfill slate needs and optimize budget.
    • Lead end-to-end deal execution: sourcing, financial analysis and forecasting, drafting proposals and long forms with Legal, contract negotiation, closing and partner onboarding.
  • Portfolio Strategy
    • Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including senior leadership, Content Strategy & Programming, Content Partnerships and Ad Sales on Roku strategic priorities and goals. Identify and evaluate new content partnership opportunities for TRC and Howdy US/global portfolios.
    • Partner with Content Strategy & Programming to evaluate service-level and title-level performance; translate insights into content sourcing plans that drive profitability and viewership goals.
    • Analyze content performance, market intelligence and audience insights; develop strategic recommendations to inform acquisition decisions and contribute to long-term content planning.
    • Prepare strategy documents, company updates and executive presentations about TRC, Howdy and the overall media landscape.
  • Partner & Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Own senior-level relationships and serve as a primary point of contact with studios, distributors, agencies and content rights holders.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Programming, Finance, Marketing, Product and Operations team to launch content and fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Team Leadership
    • Mentor and guide junior team members on deal execution, market best practices and analytical rigor.
    • Other tasks and duties as required by Roku senior leadership.
We’re excited if you have
  • 8+ years of experience in content licensing, content sales and/or business development in the media and entertainment industry, including direct experience with SVOD/AVOD/ FAST platforms.
  • Deep expertise in content valuation, windowing and licensing strategy across AVOD, FAST and SVOD; strong knowledge of market deal terms and economics.
  • Proven track record closing complex, high-value content deals and managing acquisition budgets.
  • Advanced negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to structure creative, win-win agreements.
  • Strategic thinker able to balance short-term performance with long-term platform growth.
  • Strong financial acumen, data analysis and quantitative skills with impeccable attention to detail.
  • Strong industry relationships and market credibility.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and align decisions to company goals.
  • Comfort with a quickly changing, fast-paced environment.
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred but not required.
