Responsibilities

The Data Enablement Analyst partners with business and technical stakeholders to increase data literacy, provide guidance on information-related issues, and ensure the organization has the appropriate governance in place related to the management and usage of business information.  This role is expected to take an active leadership role in the development and refinement of GMF Data Enablement strategy and implementation.  It is responsible for the coordination of Data Enablement initiatives and the identification of new opportunities to enhance the recognized value of Data Enablement within the organization.

In this role you will:

  • Assist in the development of GMF Data Enablement strategy
  • Define and promote Data Enablement practices across the organization
  • Identify new opportunities to enhance the value of the organization’s information
  • Lead Data Enablement strategic initiatives to address information-related pain points
  • Collaborate with business and technical data citizens to maintain an active understanding of GMF information assets and related processes and activities
  • Analyze existing data governance activities and recommend enhancements to align with GMF policies and standards
  • Identify data governance process gaps and work with stakeholders to design solutions to address them
  • Recommend and develop data governance policies and standards organization-wide
  • Participate in GMF policy and standard development and review
  • Lead administration of key Data Enablement functions including Metadata Management, Stewardship, Data Quality, Data & Report Certification, and Data Literacy
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Data Enablement education for the GMF enterprise
  • Serves as the steward of the metadata repository by assisting in the gathering and articulation of metadata , planning testing of metadata in systems, and training staff to properly create and manage metadata
  • Apply agile values and principles, and help drive the team and organization to higher levels of agile maturity
  • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Facilitating various Scrum and/or Kanban activities such as: Daily Scrum, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives
  • Working closely with the Product Owner to ensure product backlog is visible and prioritized towards business value
Qualifications

What makes you an ideal candidate?

  • Robust knowledge of data governance best practices and standards
  • Working knowledge of various data storage services, including relational databases, content management repositories, shared file systems, etc.
  • Working knowledge of application and data modeling languages and tools
  • Working knowledge of various information repository types, including metadata, CMDB, business glossary, etc.
  • Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Azure or AWS
  • Must exhibit expert knowledge of agile frameworks including Scrum and Kanban
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong data querying (e.g. SQL) & reporting skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage business and technical relationships with internal and external partners at all organizational levels
  • Ability to develop and interpret technical documentation and models, including software and database specifications
  • Ability to identify abstract concepts from concrete designs or implementations
  • Ability to lead meetings with various stakeholders and SMEs, promote vision, build consensus and guide to decisions
  • Ability to elicit requirements from stakeholders, design high-level solutions to address business or technical issues, and guide implementation to completion
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to teach and train on Agile, Scrum, Kanban at a level accessible to beginners with the ability to deep dive for advanced topics
  • Excellent understanding of product and sprint backlog tracking, burn down metrics, and velocity

Work Experience & Education

  • 5-7 years of experience in a technical or analytical role required
  • 2-4 years of experience in a formal Data Governance role required
  • 2-4 years of experience in an organizational leadership role preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required

The base range for this role is: $73.500 - $ 147.000

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
