Job Summary:

Job Description:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Data Scientist San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Identify and segment developer personas based on behavioral data from website activity, API usage, and documentation interactions. Develop clustering models to understand developer needs and friction points across different integration paths. Map the end-to-end developer journey to uncover key friction points. Build data-driven frameworks to measure developer engagement and success across different touchpoints (e.g., docs, sandbox, API logs). Collaborate with UX and DevEx teams to drive improvements based on insights. Build a Centralized Experimentation Hub to measure multi-variate experiments for DevEx initiatives. Develop automated pipelines to run statistical tests for evaluating DevEx changes. Apply causal inference techniques to measure the impact of changes in developer docs and the developer portal. Define and build an Integration Score framework to evaluate merchant API integrations and identify low-performing merchants. Develop predictive models to identify merchants using Legacy APls and recommend migration strategies to the latest PayPal APls. Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to improve API adoption and integration health. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

 Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Experience using Python and SQL for data analysis, querying databases, and machine learning (3 years).

2. Experience with statistical analysis, probability, hypothesis testing, parametric & non-parametric tests, A/B testing frameworks, and product analytics (3 years).

3. Experience with Bayesian Statistics and Mixed Effect Modeling to measure Product launches (3 years).

4. Experience with machine learning and predictive modeling, including scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch for building and deploying models (3 years).

5. Experience with data visualization, Tableau, Looker, Plotly, Dash and Matplotlib/Seaborn for presenting insights (3 years).

6. Experience working with PySpark and Hadoop for handling large-scale datasets (3 years).

7. Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure for cloud computing, storage, and model deployment (3 years).

8. Experience with ETL pipelines and data warehouses to work efficiently with structured and unstructured data (3 years).

9. Experience translating data insights into actionable business strategies and communicating findings to stakeholders (3 years).

10. Experience with Causal Inference methods to measure product impact (1 year).

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is: 

Primary Location | Pay Range: 

San Jose, California | Salary: $203,276.00-243,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
