Your role in our mission
 
Prosper’s lending strategies have been powered by ML models since 2015 and continued to advance into new areas with proven performance and scalability. As the Sr Director of Data Science, you will build machine learning models for our Personal Loan and Credit Card business and closely work with credit strategy teams and third-party solution providers. In this role you will work with a fast-paced and talented team that values innovation and teamwork. We value the right talent, so you can work remotely in the U.S.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Lead a team to build cutting-edge machine learning models for our personal loan and credit card acquisition credit strategies (Underwriting/Line Assignment/Pricing) , as well as card credit management programs, such as credit line management, transaction fraud, payment fraud etc.
  • Apply your knowledge in data, modeling, and in-depth business expertise to design and develop critical ML/AI models to drive the growth of the business
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage the entire modeling cycle including model design, development, evaluation, validation, and performance tracking
  • Evaluate third party solutions with strong business acumen to deliver results with high ROI
  • Demonstrate exceptional business communication skills to translate complex modeling work into tangible business results
  • Lead by example to show passion and enthusiasm towards new challenges and never cease to challenge the status quo

Skills that will help you thrive

  • 12+ years of experience in credit card modeling or consumer lending business
  • 7+ years of people leadership experience
  • M.S. or PhD required, preferably in statistics, computer science, engineering, physical sciences, economics, or related technical field
  • A strong machine learning education background and experienced in applying the skills to solve business problems
  • Ability to formulate business problems and guide the team to deliver the results expected in an agile and fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated track record of organizational skills to provide viable options to balance the time-to-market expectations and the organizational cost of the changes
  • Outstanding communication skills – ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in plain English, and comfortable with technical details to communicate with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Comfortable to use Google Cloud data environment and broad stack of technologies such as Python, Spark, SQL and Tableau
  • Familiar with regulatory guidelines in lending business
