Sr. Engineer / TL & AI Specialist

We are a San Francisco-based, fully remote Series-A stage company backed by prominent Silicon Valley venture capital firms such as Khosla Ventures, F-Prime Capital, and Valor Equity Partners. System2 founders Dilan Dane & Yuran Lu are ex-MIT serial entrepreneurs who've previously built and sold companies to Google, Dropbox etc.

Today, we deliver remote one-on-one fitness and diet coaching services to thousands of individuals experiencing life-changing benefits. The coaching is done asynchronously, using text most of the time, and is aided by image and video analysis. System2 is looking for a Senior Product Engineer with a deep interest in applying the latest developments in LLMs and other AI models to increase the quality of wellness coaching we provide to our end users.

• Identify opportunities to use AI to increase user engagement, the quality of coaching delivered, and the efficiency of coaches.

• Work with stakeholders to come up with AI-powered solutions to take advantage of these opportunities.

• Build, test, and deploy such solutions and measure the impact on core business metrics.

• Help us build an AI-focused team by helping with recruiting and providing leadership to a new team of engineers as a Tech Lead.

• Help up-level the res of the Eng org with applied-AI-specific knowledge.

• Help build us a product that our users genuinely love!

• This is a full time position.

• Our team is globally distributed. For operational efficiency, we require that our team members are able to work from 8am to noon in the US Pacific time zone. You can work remotely from your own home during these hours, though you will need to be online.

• The rest of your work hours are flexible on both time and location. We are a very remote-friendly company and do not require you to work from an office.

• The entire international team will meet in person yearly for an extended retreat for the purpose of bonding and building culture.

• 5+ years of full-stack technical experience.

• Deep interest, fluency, & preferably experience in latest AI technologies.

• Have lead teams in a technical capacity in the past.

• Have architected complex, scalable systems.

• Experience in JS / React is preferred, but not required.

• Fluency in English, both spoken and written are mandatory.

• Proactive and independent, with the ability to set your objectives and orchestrate your performance.

• Eagerness to develop systems and processes to foster a high-performing remote culture.
