About the Team 

The SaaS Engineering team is responsible for building innovative data-focused features and frameworks for large scale data management products. We are looking for a senior manager to lead M365 engineering teams (Exchange, Sharepoint, Onedrive and Teams) composed of talented software engineers in delivering data protection features as well as fostering a culture of excellence in the wider engineering organization. 

About the Role 

To be successful in this role, you’ll mentor your team, collaborate effectively with cross-functional leaders, and work closely with Product manager and TLs to define the team’s roadmap. The problem space is wide (covering the entire M365 portfolio) and deep (from performant core backend architecture to easy-to-use product experiences) and has an exciting roadmap for the coming years with tangible business impact.

Our mission is to secure the platform, building industry standard enterprise solution that helps the customer with Zero hour protection. 

M365 Data Protection Platform:

  • Ownership of Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams backup and recovery products. 
  • Deep understanding of orchestration frameworks, asynchronous job execution, and large-scale data management. 
  • Integration with MSFT systems via APIs to build data protection service. 
  • On-call operations excellence and incident response leadership
  • Reliability, cost optimization, and performance improvement initiatives

What You’ll Do: 

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Lead the M365 Data Protection engineering team to deliver reliable, scalable, and high-performing features.
    • Champion operational excellence, build a proactive, resilient on-call culture that emphasizes prevention, efficiency, and learning
    • Actively participate in technical discussions and architecture reviews, demonstrate fluency in the system design. 
    • Build and drive the product roadmap to deliver a reliable, robust, and secure product that is industry leading
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and grow high-performing engineering teams (8-10 engineers total), creating a culture of transparency, innovation in a fast-paced environment
    • Mentor engineers, providing career development guidance and technical coaching
    • Foster a mindset of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
    • Recruit, hire, and onboard top software engineering talent
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to drive individual and team growth
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Ensure delivery of highly secure, scalable solutions that meet enterprise customer requirements
    • Drive execution of complex and ambiguous technical problems aligned to business priorities
    • Provide strong technical leadership to the team. Oversee and own the architecture decisions for the team. 
    • Ensure deep understanding of product internals to provide effective first-line support for on-call and customer escalations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Product Management to prioritize the engineering backlog into product requirements
    • Exceptional decision-making abilities, with experience influencing senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
    • Collaborate with Customer Success and Sales Engineering to address customer concerns and operate with a customer first mindset.
    • Coordinate with other engineering teams and drive alignment with company-wide initiatives

Experience You’ll Need: 

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering
  • 3+ years of managing software engineering teams
  • Demonstrates growth mindset with an intrinsic technical curiosity. 
  • Strong track record of delivering large scale, resilient distributed systems and services.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Extensive and strong development experience in cloud environments, such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. 
  • Experience in distributed systems and databases.
  • Managing teams in dynamic, fast-paced startup-like environments
  • Experience cultivating strong, high quality engineering practices and processes
  • Experience working with product manager and customers


The minimum and maximum base salaries for this role are posted below; additionally, the role is eligible for bonus potential, equity and benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the role based on U.S. location. Within the range, the salary offered will be determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

$204,400$306,600 USD
