The Learning Care Talent Development team is seeking an experienced Sr. Instructional Designer to lead curriculum development for one or more programs. This program level leader must be able to think outside the tactical and task execution and be able to see the whole learning landscape for our partners. As they look across this landscape, can design, develop, delivery and strategize to meet business needs for their programs. Programs consist of the whole curriculum from New Hire to tenured leader and all updates, new work, and maintenance that they may require. While you will have help, the end results and overall program performance will live with this role. Support can be local, or virtual depending on the role’s location and the needs and the projects.

The ideal candidate will be able to apply advanced adult learning theories into a practical application-based training strategy. Controlling the overall curriculum design for the programs they manage while leading and managing support teams to execute and develop to that strategy. Collaborating closely with the other team members in the network, driving results and innovation, and successfully executing both tactical and strategic initiatives will be a key to your success in delivering consistent training experience. The current strategy blends the best elements of e-learning, instructor lead training, small group activities, peer learning and mentoring to train call center staff. The training programs you manage/design/build/implement in this role will directly impact the success of Learning Care, our schools and our families. The goal of all programs you will work on will be to deliver the highest possible customer satisfaction results and operational KPI’s.

The successful candidate will have experience in conducting training using the ADDIE model and be able to naturally work within all the phases of it. A critical aspect of this role is using data to support learning interventions. The right candidate will have the ability to influence and drive results in a highly collaborative environment while performance consulting with key business leaders on their long-term business wants. As a Sr. Instructional Designer, the right candidate would possess the ability to communicate up and out to teams who are not learning centric, doing so crisply and clearly. Making ties to business successes and metrics will matter more than if it is only the right ‘theory’ or ‘theoretically correct,’ in other words results tied to the project objectives will be the litmus test for success. As leader in the training space this role will need to evolve the programs it owns and achieve true results tied to key business metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Have mastery of complex adult learning theories, and how to apply them to common business problems. Knowing that the results are the key success metric.
  • Consult with business leaders and subject matter experts to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Participate in a team of instructional designers, who will design, develop, and build blended learning content for troubleshooting and business needs.
  • Be able to write strong, measurable learning objectives and tie them to the business goals for the programs who request the team’s services.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessments, operational metrics and business outcomes.
  • Lead end to end learning projects from intake through implementation and evaluation.
  • Project manage projects to dates and schedules.
  • Develop performance support resources such as job aids, guides and operational tools.

Qualifications

  • An advanced degree or certification in Performance Technology, Instructional Design, Adult Learning, or Teaching plus 7-10 years of on-the-job application with programs.
  • Proven experience with Instructional Design and performance consulting in cross group environments and the ability to drive metric improvements.
  • Deep instructional design knowledge and the ability to convey the complex ID theories to internal stakeholders in a way that they can consume, and support.
  • Experience in using training consumption data to identify trends and improve the content you write based on quantifiable data and business results.
  • The ability to conduct Level 2 and Level 3 evaluations based on the Kirkpatrick evaluation model.
  • Proven e-learning design and development experience and experience with designing, developing, and delivering and blended learning courses/lessons.
  • Developing multiple projects at one time.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers, driving diverse workgroups to collaborative solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office products in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project.

Skills:

  • Proven Instructional Design skills and the ability to write and manage terminal and enabling learning objectives in content.
  • The ability to execute adult learning theories into practical application to align with overall learning strategy. The ability to simply quote adult learning theory is only part of the equation. The application of those theories to solve difficult business problems in courses is critical to the success of this role.
  • Strong project management skills across multiple strategic and tactical projects.
  • The ability to influence without authority cross group is a must have skill to be successful.
  • The ability to deal with ambiguity and rapidly changing priorities diplomatically.
  • Must be able to work well in a team and take on big challenges. How you accomplish your daily tasks is as important as the results you get in this highly collaborative environment.

Compensation and Benefits:
