ROLE SUMMARY
Discovery Network (DN), Sr. Manager, Alliances supports the Alliance Management and Business Operations Lead to enable efficient advancement of Discovery Network portfolio of research collaborations. The role is designed to provide detailed, hands-on experience of the many activities that support Discovery Network business operations and manage its portfolio of alliances.
The position requires a deep understanding of exploratory therapeutics development and the role of external partnerships in achieving organizational goals, and a strong desire to deliver efficient and effective solutions to arising challenges with internal and external stakeholders.
Discovery Network (DN), Sr. Manager, Alliances must be a self-starter who is able to multitask, operate across global sites and work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Skilled interpersonal and communication skills with an attention to detail are a must. The successful candidate will also be expected to fully embrace and embody the entrepreneurial spirit, values and goals of the Discovery Network, and contribute to creating a congenial, exciting, productive and scientifically rigorous working environment.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under guidance of the Alliance and Operations lead, maintain and coordinate alliance portfolio including
    • Partner with scientific leads to draft, review and edit research plans for contracting readiness
    • Ensure line and budget support for proposed research plan
    • Creation of JSC meeting agendas, preparatory reviews, internal stakeholder mgmt., presentation materials collation, and meetings/event management.
    • IP management, external publications, and disclosures review
    • Ensuring contract compliance through EngagePlus
    • Initiate period alliance health checks
    • Portfolio data analytics & coordination of leadership reviews
  • Serve as the Alliance Manager for several high visibility cross functional collaborations
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for partners, ensuring ongoing communication, continuous alignment of goals, addressing any issues that arise
    • Drive efficient and effective governance meetings, including JSC and internal governance reviews
    • Liaise with teams and BD/Legal to support any amendments required to the contract
  • Day-to-day project management of programs in strategic alliances
    • Collaborate with the scientific leads to manage all contractual obligations of different alliances including project resource planning and management, alliance tracking and metrics reporting.
    • Monitoring progress of project activities towards next project milestone
  • In partnership with the Alliance Management and Business Operations Lead, support day-to-day smooth operations of Discovery Network team and collaborations
  • Discovery Network extended Leadership Team meeting coordination and management including agenda setting, collation of materials, minutes etc.
  • Drives business process and workflow improvements leading cross-functional teams to implement solutions with internal stakeholders and external partners

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS (or equivalent Life Science degree) with 6+ years experience in a pharma and/or biotech environment, or MS with 5+ years experience
  • Knowledge of scientific and strategic operations and industry-academic alliance Management
  • Exercises own judgment leveraging knowledge and experience
  • Works independently with instruction on complex problems
  • Excellence organizational skills, with high levels of energy
  • Ability to thrive in a highly-matrixed, team environment
  • Proven track record of effective and congenial management skills
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with relevant digital tools including SharePoint; Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's or advanced degree in related field
  • Familiarity with Pfizer organization and processes
  • CA-AM ASAP Certification

Work Location Assignment: Hybrid
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $124,400.00 to $207,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
