Job Description

The Senior Manager, IT – Web Capability is a strategic business facing role within the Commercial IT team, accountable for the end-to-end web capability supporting Gilead and Kite commercial brands across the US market. This role serves as the Web Solution Owner, driving enterprise web strategy, governance, roadmaps, and stakeholder relationships to deliver customer-centric, AI-enhanced, data-driven web experiences for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients.

You will partner closely with brand marketing, Digital Strategy & Operations (DSO), Medical Affairs, agencies, and cross-functional IT teams (Enterprise Platforms, Integration, D&A, Marketing Automation, Security) to transform commercial and brand objectives into actionable digital strategies — leveraging AI, conversational interfaces, and intelligent automation to drive engagement, self-service, and personalization at scale.

Core Responsibilities:

Strategy & Governance

  • Drive the commercial web strategy and multi-year roadmap, incorporating omnichannel-by-default principles, AI-driven insights, and intelligent automation to minimize customer journey friction.

  • Establish and enforce end-to-end web governance protocols, including domain management, UX standards, design systems, AI/chatbot content governance, and privacy/cookie compliance.

  • Lead demand management, capacity planning, and prioritization across the web portfolio for Liver/COVID and Oncology brand workstreams.

Delivery & Operations

  • Oversee the full website development lifecycle — demand intake, planning, execution, deployment, and ongoing optimization — ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery aligned to business objectives

  • Drive release planning, deployment scheduling, and web operations in partnership with delivery leads and managed service providers.

AI, Chatbot & Intelligent Experience

  • Define and execute the AI and conversational experience strategy for commercial web properties, including chatbots, virtual assistants, and live-chat handoff solutions for HCP and patient audiences.

  • Oversee design and training of conversational flows, ensuring compliance with MLR (Medical, Legal, Regulatory) review processes for all AI-generated or chatbot-delivered content in the pharma context.

  • Champion AI-driven personalization — leveraging recommendation engines, predictive analytics, and behavioral models to deliver tailored web content and next-best-action experiences for HCPs and patients.

Stakeholder & Business Partnership

  • Act as the single point of accountability and escalation for the commercial web portfolio, partnering with DSO, brand teams, agencies, and digital engagement leads

  • Translate business needs into IT roadmap items and solution proposals; advise leadership on AI capability enablement opportunities and emerging technology investments

  • Communicate proactively across stakeholders on project status, risks, and strategic decisions

Web Platforms & CMS

  • Deep expertise in Sitecore / AEM / or comparable enterprise CMS platforms; familiarity with headless/static site architectures, and cloud hosting.

  • Awareness of AI-driven content operations — automated content tagging, AI-assisted authoring, intelligent search, and dynamic content assembly.

  • Strong working knowledge of analytics tools, personalization engines, consent/preference management (OneTrust), and SEO/SEM

Pharma Digital Channels

  • Experience with HCP portals, DTC/patient websites, MLR review workflows, and regulatory compliance for promotional and AI-generated digital content.

  • Understanding of omnichannel orchestration, customer journey mapping, rule-based and behavior-based personalization

Agile & Product Mindset

  • Proven ability to operate as a product owner — managing backlogs, writing user stories, and applying Agile/hybrid delivery methodologies.

Leadership & Communication

  • Strong stakeholder management at the senior/executive level; ability to influence without authority across IT, marketing, compliance, and agency partners.

  • Concise, strategic communicator; able to translate complex technical and AI concepts into business value.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years' Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Six Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in IT with progressive responsibility in web platform management, digital marketing technology, or omnichannel capability delivery.

  • 5+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences industry, preferably supporting US Commercial functions.

  • 3+ years managing cross-functional teams and external vendors/MSPs.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with CMS platforms (Sitecore), conversational AI, or chatbot implementations in a regulated industry.

People Leader Accountabilities:

•Create Inclusion - knowing the business value of diverse teams, modeling inclusion, and embedding the value of diversity in the way they manage their teams.

•Develop Talent - understand the skills, experience, aspirations and potential of their employees and coach them on current performance and future potential. They ensure employees are receiving the feedback and insight needed to grow, develop and realize their purpose.

•Empower Teams - connect the team to the organization by aligning goals, purpose, and organizational objectives, and holding them to account. They provide the support needed to remove barriers and connect their team to the broader ecosystem.
