Position Title: Sr Performance Test Engineer

Location: El Segundo, CA

Hire Type: Full Time Only  

Salary: As Per Market

Job Description:-

•Strong performance testing experience - especially in Jmeter, LoadRunner with Java and other protocols

•Demonstrable experience of leading a team and driving test strategy 

•Experience of working in an Agile environment

•Scripting skills - languages such as Java script, Groovy script would be advantageous

•Experience in test effort estimation

•Excellent communication and inter personal skills - the successful candidate will be expected to liaise with various off-shore teams, often across various locations and time zones 

Responsibilities include: 

• Reviewing project specifications and working with other organizations (both within and outside of team) to understand the performance requirements of the project, including the system architecture, design, internal and external interfaces, use cases, etc. 

• Working with other leads on understanding the performance test plans and making sure the off-shore teams are in-sync with the defined test strategies. 

• Understanding load patterns and models based on past and projected load numbers 

• Assigning test responsibilities to offshore/onsite team members and coordinating with offshore team on a daily basis via teleconferences, video conferences, etc. 

• Assisting the off-shore teams with their scripting questions/issues and making sure that the execution of the performance tests is done to properly and rigorously estimate the performance metrics of the system. 

• Identifying, analyzing, and documenting any defects discovered during testing. 

• Working with the development and lab teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues and provide fine tuning recommendations 

• Generating test reports to document all test results.

A successful candidate must be able to work under limited technical supervision. Duties may also include defining and/or developing test tools and/or exploring available tools in the market for feasibility and developing simulators as necessary.

Qualifications-Minimum Qualifications 

• 4–6 years in Performance Engineering and Performance Testing Area 

• 1- 2 years with a lead role supporting a team/practice with proven track record in this area. 

• In-depth knowledge and working experience with Performance Testing/Monitoring tools and Open Source performance testing tools ( Apache JMeter, etc) 

• Deep experience in automating web and back-end service tests using a variety of tool sets 

• Demonstrated coding experience (1 - 3 years), particularly in the area of building/extending hands-free automated tests (Java preferred, but experience in scripting or coding in some language is a must) 

• Experience with SQL queries with any DB 

• Strong background in performance testing 

• Strong knowledge of Monitoring tools (Wily Introscope, Diagnostics, Splunk, etc) 

• Excellent written and oral communication skills 

• Excellent critical thinking and problem solving abilities 

• Able to coordinate across multiple projects effectively. 

• Experience leading resources directly, onshore/offshore or in a matrixed model.

Desired Qualifications 

• Experience solving problems (e.g., text manipulation, sorting, test data management, log analysis) with scripting languages (e.g., java script, Perl, Groovy, UNIX shell) 

• Prefer strong experience with open-source tools 

• Experience using source control (e.g., CVS, Subversion) 

• Experience testing applications developed using Open Source Technologies in a large scale transaction environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL) 

• Experience using test case management and bug tracking tools (e.g., Remedy, Bugzilla, Jira) 

• Experience scripting with multiple performance testing platforms and load generators (HP Performance Center, SoapUI Pro, ITKO Lisa, JMeter, Silk Performer) 

• Any testing/development experience in Big Data/Hadoop platforms is a plus
