X’s Safety team is responsible for helping our users successfully and safely use our platform. This includes developing and enforcing policies that protect freedom of speech and mitigate against harm, ensuring the safety and integrity of the global conversation. We innovate, experiment, and move at a fast pace and are committed to being a learning organization with a growth mindset, which means we are always looking for ways to improve our policies, our detection and enforcement, and ourselves.
 

You will: 

  • Drive the strategic development, implementation, and continuous refinement of policy and safety initiatives to address current trends and emerging risks. 

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments to determine the impact of the policy and safety measures on X, and provide analysis to help evolve our policy frameworks.

  • Work closely with the compliance team to ensure that our policies adhere to regulatory standards and legal requirements.  

  • Collaborate with teams across Engineering, Legal, Operations, and Product to identify, develop, and implement automated policy enforcement solutions, ensuring tools and reporting systems are systematically updated for policy compliance. 

  • Provide prompt expert guidance to policy escalations, conduct investigations as necessary, and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risks.

  • Develop educational and training materials to convey complex policy information in a format that is easy to understand and accessible to a diverse audience.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Trust and Safety, legal policy, user-generated policy or addressing online abuse at a tech company or equivalent

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience

  • Passion and enthusiasm for protecting user safety and freedom of expression

  • Experience in project management and/or improving operational processes, proactive mindset and problem solving skills

  • Experience handling high-profile and sensitive issues

Note: This role involves potential exposure to sensitive or graphic content, including but not limited to vulgar language, violent threats, pornography, and other graphic images.
