Responsibilities

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Sr. Procurement Operations Manager in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.  We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

 

General Summary:

The Sr. Procurement Operations Manager will oversee the purchase of activities, manage supplier relationships, and ensure efficient procurement processes to support organizational goals. 

Assigned areas of focus may include: systems, procurement operations, commodity management interfaces, materials, logistics, contract management, supplier management and contract administration.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and manage the procurement team; provide training material and feedback to direct reports as needed
  • Performs and manages day-to-day data collection, implementation, supplier improvement and process improvement within Howmet and across the interface between Howmet and its suppliers in order to achieve effective competitive supply chains
  • Redesigns as assigned and/or facilitates changes in procurement operations to enable creation of transactional center-ready work, through process improvements
  • Identifies transactional improvement initiatives that can be driven through commodity management and supports their achievement
  • Promotes communication across the organization to identify and drive toward common policies and best practices to achieve cost reductions
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement regulations, and legal requirements, while educating staff on procurement processes and best practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, and/or a related field required
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management is required, with a proven track record in strategic sourcing and supplier management
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience of leading a team with direct reports
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or relevant certifications (CPM, APICS, CPIM, P.E.) 
  • Experience with MRP/ERP business systems (Oracle preferred)
  • Experience within an aerospace, aviation, or automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple large projects and interact with all organization levels
  • Experience in identifying and executing an optimized supply chain, including raw material, machining, material processing, inspection and logistics
  • Technical knowledge in Aerospace Commodities (Machined components, forgings, castings, raw materials, etc.)
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related computer skills

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to work on site in Torrance, California. Remote work not considered.

 

Benefits/Salary:

The salary range for this position is $140k-$180k.
