About the role
As Sr. Product Manager for Lending, you'll have end-to-end ownership of Scratch's lending products, from origination through underwriting and servicing. You'll set the strategy and roadmap for how we extend fair, affordable credit to pet parents, working closely with engineering, design, risk, credit, finance, servicing, compliance, and our sponsor bank partners to build lending experiences that are fast, transparent, and responsible.
What you'll do
- Assist the strategy, roadmap, and execution for lending products, including:
- Point-of-sale lending and BNPL offerings
- Longer-term installment and payment plans
- Credit decisioning and application flows
- Loan servicing and account management tools
- Feature flag management across lending environments
- Creation of new offerings such as wellness and/or subscription services
- Manage and grow relationships with sponsor bank partners as well as our loan management software provider, ensuring product decisions align with partnership agreements, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements
- Own and evolve partner API solutions, including integrations with credit bureaus and alternative data providers for underwriting and risk model scoring
- Own and evolve customer facing tools such as the application funnel and borrower servicing portal
- Partner with data science and risk teams to build and refine cashflow underwriting tools and credit risk models that improve approval rates while managing loss exposure
- Collaborate with an Agile pod of engineers, QA, and design to define product requirements, prototype new lending flows, and ship features on time
- Drive a rigorous testing and experimentation practice, including A/B testing of underwriting criteria, application flows, and servicing experiences
- Own clear, thorough documentation of product requirements, underwriting logic, and decisioning rules for cross-functional and regulatory audiences
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, and operations to ensure lending products meet all applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., state lending laws, TILA/Reg Z, fair lending)
- Act as the product alpha for all things lending, making data-driven decisions using both internal performance data and external benchmarks
What we are looking for
- Deep knowledge of consumer lending: underwriting, credit decisioning, loan origination, servicing, collections, and the regulatory landscape (state lending laws, TILA/Reg Z, fair lending, etc.)
- Experience operating and navigating sponsor-bank partnership models
- Experience with partner APIs to facilitate b2b client relationships
- Familiarity with data ingestion and advanced model scoring, ideally related to underwriting and credit risk model scoring using credit bureau ((e.g., Experian, Equifax, TransUnion) or alternative data sources (e.g. cashflow underwriting)
- Strong experimentation muscle, including hands-on experience running A/B tests to optimize underwriting and product outcomes
- Comfort with prototyping and iterating quickly with design and engineering to test new lending concepts
- Proven success working with cross-functional agile teams, including risk, compliance, and data science
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills—be the alpha and the translator
- Bonus points if you've worked in veterinary, healthcare, or care-adjacent industries

- Competitive base salary ranging from $150,000 - $175,000 + equity
