Job Summary & Responsibilities
The Senior Quality Engineer will serve as a hands-on quality engineering leader supporting Retirement & Wealth products. This individual will help modernize and scale our automated testing capabilities, partnering closely with Engineering to improve software quality, reduce manual testing effort, and accelerate delivery.
This is not a traditional QA role. We are looking for an engineer who can design, develop, troubleshoot, and evolve test automation frameworks while helping drive our migration toward TypeScript and Playwright-based automation solutions.
The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals, test automation expertise , and a continuous improvement mindset. They are comfortable discussing code, debugging automation failures, reviewing framework design decisions, and mentoring other Quality Engineers on modern automation practices.

- Mentor QA team members on framework development, automation best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Help drive the evolution from traditional QA processes toward modern quality engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Automation Engineering
- Design, build, enhance, and maintain automated test frameworks.
- Develop automated UI, API, integration, and regression testing solutions.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and identify root causes.
- Review automation code and recommend architectural improvements.
- Build reusable utilities, helpers, fixtures, and framework components.
- Improve framework maintainability and test suite reliability.
- Support migration efforts from Selenium-based solutions to Playwright-based solutions where appropriate .
Software Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Apply sound software engineering principles to automation development.
- Utilize object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, and clean code practices.
- Participate in framework design discussions and technical decision making.
- Partner closely with Software Engineers on testing strategies and automation architecture.
- Coach and mentor QA team members on coding best practices and automation development.
Agile Quality Ownership
- Participate in sprint planning, refinement, estimation, and release activities.
- Identify quality risks during requirements and design reviews.
- Communicate testing status, quality metrics, and release readiness to stakeholders.
- Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives across product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Experience
- 7+ years in Quality Engineering, SDET, Test Automation Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks.
- Experience designing automation architecture rather than only consuming existing frameworks.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading automation initiatives.
- Strong experience operating in Agile software development environments.
- Experience supporting SaaS, cloud-based, or enterprise-scale applications.
