What You’ll Do:
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize interactive, immersive experiences on Roblox. This role requires strong technical expertise, hands-on development, and a passion for creating high-quality, performant, and innovative experiences.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with creative teams, other engineers, and brand partners to deliver projects that meet both the technical standards of the platform and the creative goals of our partners.

You Are:
- You bring 5+ years of software engineering experience, or a related role in gaming, digital media, or interactive experiences. You have a strong track record of building large-scale products or immersive experiences, with an emphasis on performance and quality.
- An expert with deep experience in platform optimization, technical architecture, and immersive technology, including hands-on work with Roblox Studio and Lua scripting.
- You are passionate about immersive storytelling, innovation, and pioneering new technical frontiers in interactive media.
You will:
Design and implement core systems and features for immersive experiences, ensuring alignment with Roblox’s technical standards and Innovation Studio’s creative goals.
Optimize experiences for performance, scalability, and reliability, leveraging platform-specific features to enhance engagement and immersion.
Collaborate with creative, product, and engineering teams to validate technical feasibility, contribute to timelines, and deliver on requirements.
Contribute to the technical roadmap by providing input on feature development and platform optimization priorities.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional partners, articulating technical requirements, tradeoffs, and solutions.
Participate in QA efforts and technical reviews, helping to establish and follow best practices that ensure smooth, stable experiences across devices.
Identify and troubleshoot potential technical issues early, implementing solutions to support seamless project delivery.
Stay curious and innovative, suggesting process improvements and applying feedback and performance metrics to refine development approaches.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.
Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
