Transforming technical accounting into actionable insight

Senior Technical Accountant

Irvine, CA

About the role

Are you an accounting professional who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and translating accounting guidance into actionable insights? The Senior Technical Accountant plays a critical role within the finance organization, leading technical accounting research, financial reporting, and the development of accounting policies that ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.

Based in our Irvine office on a hybrid basis, you’ll partner across the business on high-impact transactions, prepare technical accounting analyses, and shape accounting conclusions that support strategic decision-making. Your work will directly influence financial reporting, operational execution, and the Company’s continued growth.

What you’ll be doing

As a member of the Technical Accounting team, you’ll be responsible for evaluating complex transactions and providing clear, well-supported accounting guidance. Your responsibilities will include:

Technical Accounting Research & Policy Development

  • Perform technical accounting research and analysis on complex transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP, including ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 805 (Business Combinations), and ASC 810 (Consolidation).
  • Develop, document, and maintain the Company’s accounting policies, ensuring consistency and alignment with authoritative guidance and industry practices.
  • Prepare detailed accounting memorandums documenting key judgments, conclusions, and supporting guidance.
  • Interpret and apply accounting standards to new or non-routine transactions, providing practical, well-reasoned recommendations.
  • Monitor emerging accounting guidance and assess potential impacts on the Company.

Accounting Models & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain accounting models to support complex accounting conclusions, including revenue allocation, lease accounting, purchase accounting, and consolidation frameworks.
  • Analyze financial impacts of strategic transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and contract modifications.
  • Partner with FP&A and Finance leadership to assess accounting implications and ensure alignment with financial forecasts.

Cross-Functional Advisory & Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with Legal, FP&A, Corporate Development, Operations, and other stakeholders to evaluate business transactions and provide accounting guidance early in the process.
  • Translate technical accounting requirements into clear business guidance to support decision-making and execution.
  • Support contract reviews, deal structuring, and transaction planning to ensure appropriate accounting outcomes.

Financial Reporting & Audit Support

  • Support the preparation and review of technical accounting disclosures within financial statements.
  • Work closely with external auditors to support technical accounting conclusions and provide required documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring consistency of accounting applications across the organization and strengthening internal controls over financial reporting.

What you’ll bring

Think you could make a difference here? We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical expertise and the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly. You will also bring some of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in technical accounting, audit, or accounting policy.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, particularly ASC 606 and ASC 842; working knowledge of ASC 805 and ASC 810.
  • Experience preparing technical accounting memorandums and supporting audit reviews.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to quality.
