The Sr. Technical Writing Specialist, of the Services Operations subfamily of the Services job family is responsible for delivering implementation and ongoing managed services, training, and other billable professional offerings to new and existing customers. The Services Operations subfamily is responsible for the selection and maintenance of internal systems and tools for Services. Also responsible for reporting for the Services department, as well as technical/product knowledge management, training, and documentation for internal audiences. The Sr. Technical Writing Specialist will plan, organize, write, and edit software documentation and manuals. The role will maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology. The role will gather information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements.
Expected Duties:
Sr. Technical Writing Specialists will be able to write complex integrations and projects. Complexity is based on the depth of technical knowledge needed and page length
Expected to create the design templates, formatting standards, and guidelines for writing projects
Responsible for observing production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedures and detail
Sr. Technical Writing Specialists will analyze developments in the specific field to determine the need for revisions in previously published materials and assist in the development of new material
The role will review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding
Expected to confer with customer representatives, vendors, plant executives, or publishers to establish technical specifications and to determine subject material to be developed for publication
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field
3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in software or technology environments
Technical Skills
Proficiency in authoring tools (e.g., MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word)
Familiarity with content management systems and version control (e.g., SharePoint, Git)
Ability to write and edit complex technical documentation, including integrations and software manuals
Strong understanding of technical terminology and ability to maintain a comprehensive terminology library
Analytical & Organizational Skills
Ability to gather and analyze information about needs, objectives, functions, features, and requirements
Experience in observing production, development, and experimental activities to document procedures
Skill in reviewing and revising published materials for accuracy, scope, format, and content
Communication & Collaboration
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to confer with customer representatives, vendors, and internal stakeholders to establish technical specifications
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, and services operations
Quality & Standards
Experience creating design templates, formatting standards, and documentation guidelines
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, consistent documentation
Other Abilities
Self-motivated with the ability to perform routine tasks independently and with minimal supervision
Adaptability to evolving technical fields and willingness to assist in the development of new materials
