SUGARED + BRONZED has redefined airbrush tanning with a proprietary solution and reintroduced an all-natural, ancient Egyptian method of hair removal called sugaring. Our commitment is to deliver exceptional services in vibrant, welcoming spaces that elevate your experience and brighten your day.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Sugared + Bronzed is a fast-growing beauty brand with more than 50 sugaring and spray tanning salons across multiple states. Our accounting team is small and hands-on, and keeps the books for every one of them.

The Staff Accountant owns the day-to-day general ledger: accounts payable, GL maintenance, monthly balance sheet reconciliations and the month-end close. You will work in QuickBooks Online, Rippling and our other spend and reporting platforms.

We are looking for someone detail-oriented, deadline-driven and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, ideally with experience in retail or a multi-location service business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounts Payable

  • Own the full AP cycle: receive, code and enter vendor bills, route them for approval and schedule payments so vendors are paid accurately and on time.
  • Code spend to the correct account and location across 50+ salons and keep vendor records clean and current.
  • Manage the monthly rent payment calendar and landlord portals for all store locations, track lease obligations and escalate discrepancies.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve billing discrepancies.

General ledger and month-end close

  • Prepare and post journal entries in QuickBooks Online, including accruals, prepaids and recurring entries.
  • Maintain clean, consistent GL coding across departments and locations.
  • Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations (bank, credit card, prepaids, accrued liabilities, fixed assets and clearing accounts) and clear reconciling items promptly.
  • Work the month-end and quarter-end close calendar, hit deadlines and flag issues early.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and record additions, disposals and depreciation.

Reporting, audit and process

  • Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit and respond to auditor requests.
  • Support sales tax, business license and other filings with accurate, timely data.
  • Document accounting processes and help improve them.
  • Collaborate with operations, real estate and HR on accounting questions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting experience. Accounts payable and month-end close experience required
    • multi-location or retail experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online. Experience with Rippling or a similar spend management platform is a plus.
  • Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  • Comfortable using AI tools and automation in daily work, or eager to learn.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Able to manage recurring schedules and deadlines independently.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A fun, collaborative space that embraces change and innovation.
  • Competitive benefits package including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with company match, and paid vacation and holidays.
  • Complimentary Sugaring + Tanning services and products. Get ready for the glow!
  • Opportunities for future role mobility and professional development.
