About the Team

Our Finance team keeps Sift's financial operations accurate, controlled, and ready to scale as the business grows. We own the month-end close, financial reporting, and the systems and processes behind them, and we partner closely with FP&A, Revenue, and business teams across the company to make sure the numbers tell the right story.

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role supports AP, core general ledger, close, and compliance activities and is a strong growth path toward a Senior Accountant position.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare and post journal entries for non-revenue areas such as prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.

  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts (cash, prepaids, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, etc.) and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.

  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are met.

  • Post daily cash transactions and perform bank reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

  • Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules.

  • Own accounts payable end to end and support expense-related accounting as needed.

  • Help maintain and improve internal controls and documentation.

  • Assist with the preparation of schedules and support for external audits and internal reviews.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate recurring accounting processes.

  • Experience leveraging and customizing AI/LLM tools (e.g., Gemenia, Claude) for day-to-day work, and general fluency with AI-assisted workflows.

  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and other Accounting team members on ad hoc requests and analysis.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 4–6 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or industry).

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger accounting.

  • Experience with international accounting and IFRS reporting standards is a plus.

  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) and strong Excel skills.

  • Experience with Expense Software (e.g., Navan, Expensify, Brex).

  • Experience with Tax Software (e.g., Avalara, Anrok).

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

  • Self-starter who takes ownership and is eager to grow into a Senior Accountant role.
