As a Staff AI Engineer, you will lead the design and development of AI applications, mentor teams, guide technical strategy, and ensure compliance in healthcare contexts. You'll collaborate with various stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into products, maintaining high performance and quality standards.

- Set the technical vision, architecture, design and lead development and maintenance of highly scalable and performant AI applications.
- Lead our applied AI initiatives, collaborating closely with Engineering, Product and Business stakeholders to integrate advanced AI models into our products and services. This will include:
- Implementing and leveraging Google Gemini for enhanced conversational AI, content summarization, or intelligent search within our platform.
- Shape the technical roadmap for AI-driven features and ensuring responsible AI development and deployment in a healthcare context.
- Drive the architectural evolution enhancing our member and client support experiences, potentially integrating AI for improved automation and intelligence.
- Mentor and guide junior to mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative problem-solving within the team.
- Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and thought leadership to the team and broader organization on full-stack development and applied AI.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional partners, including Product Managers, Designers, Data Scientists, Analytics teams, and various Business Stakeholders. You'll translate business requirements into technical specifications, provide technical insights during ideation, and ensure technical solutions align with product vision and user needs.
- Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial concept and requirements gathering to design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
Ensure the highest standards of code quality, performance, and security through rigorous code reviews, automated testing, and adherence to architectural principles, especially concerning sensitive healthcare data (HIPAA compliance). - Proactively identify and resolve complex technical challenges and production issues, driving continuous improvement.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in full-stack development, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, and advocate for their strategic adoption.
- Proven, hands-on experience in designing, building, and launching production-level AI experiences.
- 12+ years of Software Development experience designing and developing high performing applications
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with the Google cloud platform.
- Experienced in prompt engineering, building, enhancing and maintaining custom RAG pipelines.
- Expert level in Python
- Experience with API integrations and connecting conversational interfaces with backend systems and data sources.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, with a passion for sharing knowledge and fostering technical growth.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and a long-term vision for conversational AI.
This is a hybrid position based out of one of our offices: San Francisco, CA, Plano, TX, or Lehi, UT. Hybrid employees are expected to be in the office two days per week.#LI-hybrid
The actual pay rate offered within the range will depend on factors including geographic location, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to the salary, you will be eligible for 330,000 stock options and benefits like health insurance, 401k, and paid time off.
