About us:

Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching - AEM's foundational use case - through peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates costly, time-consuming routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. Trusted by thousands of enterprises managing millions of endpoints globally, Action1 is certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001.

The company is founder-led by industry veterans Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who founded Netwrix, which has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading cybersecurity company.

About the Role

We are looking for a very technical candidate, who is expected to be extremely hands-on in technologies used, lead the way by example, develop, maintain and implement infrastructure as code, and any respective technologies. This is not a managerial role)

As a Staff DevOps Engineer at Action1 lead initiatives - not tasks -and drive the technical vision for our DevOps function. This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who builds systems, not stopgaps; who operates autonomously; and who consistently raises the engineering bar.

You will partner closely with our IT Operations Lead and take ownership of platform reliability, automation, infrastructure architecture, and deployment strategy. Your work will define how Action1 scales its cloud platform over the next several years.

Dear Candidate! We really value your time. Please be aware that this is not a standard AI-generated Job Description, but a detailed text about what we expect from you and what you can expect from the job. If you feel you match with the role perfectly - apply, and feel free to follow-up with an email to [email protected] (Subject line: "DevOps")

What You’ll Do

Architecture & Technical Leadership

- Own the end-to-end DevOps function: set standards, define the roadmap, and deliver multi-quarter improvements to infrastructure, automation, and reliability.

- Architect and evolve our AWS ecosystem - multi-region, multi-account, secure by default, resilient, and cost efficient.

- Lead major infrastructure initiatives from design through production rollout with minimal oversight.

- Build and mature our delivery ecosystem: CI/CD pipelines, automated validations, and safe rollout mechanisms.

- Treat infrastructure as a product: develop reusable IaC modules, enforce consistency across environments, and provide self-service tooling to engineering teams.

Automation, Tooling & Engineering Excellence

- Develop and maintain automation frameworks, IaC libraries, and internal tooling that reduce operational load and improve consistency.

- Eliminate repetitive work through automation and thoughtful systems design.

- Champion DevOps and SRE best practices across engineering.

Reliability, Observability & Incident Management

- Act as Incident Commander for high-severity production incidents.

- Implement and evolve observability across logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and alerting systems.

- Apply SRE principles to drive reliability improvements and prevent recurrence of systemic issues.

- Introduce and maintain Chaos Engineering practices to validate real-world resilience.

Security, Compliance & Governance

- Build and maintain a secure-by-default cloud environment: IAM, segmentation, secrets management, encryption, and auditability.

- Integrate compliance frameworks into deployment pipelines and infrastructure processes.

- Ensure all infrastructure changes and systems conform to modern cloud security standards.

Collaboration, Influence & Mentorship

- Partner with Engineering, QA, and Security leadership to anticipate operational needs and shape long-term platform strategy.

- Mentor engineers and promote high standards for system design, reliability, and operational discipline.

- Proactively propose and drive improvements.

What You Bring

Experience & Leadership

- 8–10+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure roles supporting production SaaS environments.

- Proven track record leading significant technical initiatives with measurable outcomes.

- Deep architectural expertise in distributed systems, AWS, and cloud-native infrastructure.

- Strong ownership mindset and the ability to operate independently at Staff IC level.

Cloud, Infrastructure, and Automation Expertise

- Advanced AWS knowledge.

- Strong programming or scripting skills in Python or Node.

- Expert-level IaC with Terraform or CloudFormation.

- Strong CI/CD design experience.

Security, Reliability & Compliance

- Solid foundation in cloud security principles.

- Familiarity with SOC 2 and ISO frameworks.

- Experience leading complex incident responses.

Work Style & Personal Attributes

- Highly autonomous.

- Strong communicator capable of influencing engineering decisions across teams.

- Comfortable with fast-moving priorities and ambiguity.

- Based in the United States and willing to participate in on-call rotation.

Success Criteria (6–12 Months)

- Infrastructure is standardized, automated, and fully reproducible.

- CI/CD is faster, safer, and more predictable.

- High-severity incidents resolved quickly, with durable fixes.

- AWS architecture is more reliable, secure, and cost-effective.

- Developers experience fewer operational bottlenecks.

- You have become the technical leader of the DevOps domain.

What This Role Is Not

- Not a junior or mid-level operations role.

- Not ticket-driven work.

- Not maintenance-focused.
