Seeking an experienced Staff Engineer to join our team at Codegen. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years of software experience, exceptional backend skills, and the ability to independently architect and develop large, complex systems. We offer the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a high-autonomy role, contributing significantly to our Python backend and related technologies.

About the Role

Codegen is hiring a full-time Staff Engineer to take significant, open-ended segments of our Python backend and transform them into resilient, scalable systems.

The role involves iterating on features, prototyping solutions, and refining them to enterprise standards. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, high-agency individual capable of working independently and collaboratively to drive initiatives to completion. This is a senior-level position suited for professionals who have thrived in fast-growing companies and are excited to build an elite engineering culture.

Our technology stack is centered around Python, utilizing OpenAPI APIs, FastAPI, and Modal for backend services. Our system is integrated deeply with git, uses Retool for internal tools, and has a minimal frontend developed with Remix.js and TypeScript.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of software engineering experience.

  • Demonstrated maturity in judgement and the capability to architect large systems independently.

  • A strong background in backend development, particularly with complex, stateful systems, and profound Python and/or data processing experience.

  • Proven track record as a prolific developer who collaborates effectively with teams and can assume the role of a tech lead on projects.

  • Self-guided with a knack for identifying and solving problems without needing supervision.

  • Previous AI experience is advantageous but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

The appointed Staff Engineer will be entrusted with substantial portions of our backend infrastructure, including but not limited to:

  • The distributed computation of "solves."

  • Creation and management of developer bot environments.

  • Customer Knowledge Management (CKM) systems.

The role involves prototyping new solutions, bringing them to a functional state, and then refining them to be robust and ready for enterprise deployment.
