What you own: The architecture and evolution of Crucible. You will co-own its technical roadmap alongside Ciridae’s other senior engineers and build the deployment systems, developer tooling, services, and abstractions that power customer applications. Success means expanding Crucible’s capabilities so FDEs can build more and deploy faster.
You will also help solve the hardest deployment-specific problems. What begins as a solution for one customer should become an extensible capability, reusable service, or platform pattern that makes future deployments faster and better.
Your ownership continues into production: instrumenting the platform, debugging live issues, improving reliability and security, and eliminating recurring operational problems at the root. You will provide technical leadership through architecture, system design, code review, documentation, and the engineering standards you establish.
What you bring: A strong software engineering foundation and experience building production platforms, deployment systems, and developer tooling that engineers rely on. You understand how to design extensible systems that work across varied cloud and customer-hosted environments without creating one-off architecture for every project. You are comfortable working across Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, security, and production reliability.
You have a track record of improving developer productivity, deployment speed, platform adoption, and operational reliability. You can move between long-term platform architecture and an urgent technical problem blocking a customer deployment. You remain deeply involved in implementation, bringing a clear technical point of view grounded in experience and a high bar for code quality.
Requirements:
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant ownership of platform infrastructure, deployment systems, or developer tooling.
Staff-level impact through technical direction, cross-team influence, and delivery of complex systems from design through production.
Strong programming skills in Go, Python, TypeScript, or a similar language, with experience designing and operating distributed, multi-tenant, or cloud-native systems.
Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP; Kubernetes, Terraform, containers, and CI/CD; and multi-cloud or customer-hosted deployments.
Strong grounding in APIs, service boundaries, data stores, networking, identity and access management, secrets management, secure software delivery, and production observability.
A track record of improving developer experience, deployment speed, platform adoption, or reliability; diagnosing live issues; and fixing recurring problems at the root.
Strong system-design, technical-writing, and communication skills, with the ability to influence across teams and work hands-on from our San Francisco or New York office.
