Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby operates a process intelligence platform, built on Celonis process mining and spanning a range of manufacturing improvement use cases, including production yield, defect rate, throughput volumes, schedule readiness and capacity planning. The Process Intelligence Staff Engineer will extend this platform, owning use cases end-to-end: from requirements gathering with manufacturing stakeholders, through data transformation and modeling, to deployed dashboards. The ideal candidate has years of experience building data building data and analytics solutions in fast-paced, engineering-driven environments, and is comfortable owning the full technical stack of a use case.

Responsibilities
  • Use Case Delivery: Translate requirements from manufacturing leads into process mining use cases; own delivery from data exploration through validated, deployed dashboards
  • Technical Build: Develop production-scale ETLs to feed the visualizations and automations behind each use case
  • Data Quality: Identify and drive resolution of data quality issues with source-system owners; document modeling decisions and known limitations
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work directly with manufacturing leads and factory systems engineers to ground models in operational reality; communicate findings and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
Required
  • BA/BS degree in engineering, computer science, another quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data analytics, or process mining implementation
  • Strong working proficiency in SQL & Python
  • Excellent written communication, including technical documentation and decision records
  • Occasional travel to different Joby manufacturing sites
Desired
  • Familiarity with manufacturing source systems (MES, ERP, PLM, QMS) and domain concepts (including nonconformance, yield, capacity, production scheduling)
  • Track record of working autonomously on a small team: scoping ambiguous problems, validating your own work, and communicating limitations honestly
  • Experience with Databricks, Spark, or comparable lakehouse
  • Hands-on experience with Celonis or another process mining platform
