Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

About XD Discovery + Foundations

This role is on the Experience Design (XD) Discovery + Foundations team. The team is responsible for designing the core member experience worldwide and creating personalized entertainment experiences that help members discover and connect with the content they love.

We do this by defining the app architecture and foundational user experience strategic frameworks; ensuring excellence and platform innovation for TV, Mobile, and Web experiences; prioritizing personalized content discovery; leveraging human-centered AI; and ensuring each member’s experience on Netflix reflects what they truly value based on their tastes and preferences.

This role supports the Member Experience product teams, which strive to make finding the right title on Netflix intuitive and compelling with relevant recommendations tailored to members’ needs.

About You

At Netflix, every member interaction is a chance to spark curiosity, deepen connection, and ignite delight. As a design lead for personalized experiences, you’ll shape how we invite members to share their voice — and how we turn that input into meaningful, magical moments of discovery.

This role focuses on making Netflix feel personalized for you by maintaining a dialogue with our members, deeply understanding their preferences, and reflecting that understanding back to them enabling each member to find entertainment they will love.

This is an opportunity to lead innovative product design with a demonstrable impact on a global scale. Using your full range of interaction, visual, and product-thinking skills, you’ll lead and own product features. You balance a passion for systems thinking and creating highly functional and emotionally resonant experiences with a strong desire to understand user behavior and business success. You’re comfortable switching between vision-level, defining UX frameworks, and hands-on pixel-level work. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams who are charged with revolutionizing how entertainment is consumed and how storytelling is showcased by delivering engaging, inclusive experiences to members.
You’ll thoughtfully question the status quo and look closely at how we can push the user experience further with emerging technologies. You thrive in uncharted territories where design hasn’t historically found itself or where the rules and engagements aren’t already established. How do the user experience, underlying logic, recommendation systems, and tooling all fit together? You’ll define strategies and design solutions that will bring this vision to life, then work with cross-functional partners to execute against it.

What You’ll Do

  • Craft the Vision: Define what "member input" truly means for Netflix. Lead the charge in transforming subtle signals into powerful experiences that feel intuitive, personal, and unmistakably Netflix.

  • Design with Purpose: Partner across disciplines to imagine and build experiences that use member input to fuel personalization, promote content, and create lasting engagement across Series, Films, Live, and Games.

  • Build the System:  Architect the Input Design System — a creative toolkit that enables scalable, beautiful, and coherent experiences across the platform. Design it, document it, and champion it.

  • Lead the Way: Guide a multidisciplinary team through ambiguity to clarity. Facilitate ideation, experimentation, and alignment around principles that balance data, storytelling, and design craft.

  • Connect the Dots: Collaborate with product, engineering, and data science to uncover opportunities, test ideas, and ship experiences that resonate. Bridge the gap between systems thinking and emotional design.

  • Tell the Story: Bring ideas to life through compelling storytelling. Use narrative, visuals, and prototypes to share your vision and rally teams around a common purpose.

  • Shape the Strategy: Create a roadmap that blends immediate impact with long-term innovation — always anchored in what’s best for our global audience.

  • Champion the Member: Advocate for a design culture that puts members first, with a global mindset and an appetite for bold thinking.

  • Nurture the Craft: Foster a culture of feedback, quality, and continuous learning. Raise the bar for design excellence while staying grounded in experimentation and iteration.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience designing intuitive, impactful user experiences for consumer-facing products across mobile, web, and/or TV platforms. Background in discovery, search, or merchandising experiences is a strong plus.

  • Proven track record of designing and shipping large-scale, personalized products — particularly those that help users navigate and engage with broad, diverse content catalogs.

  • Deep understanding of the intersection between UX, AI, and user journeys — especially how input signals and algorithms can shape personalized, scalable experiences.

  • Strategic thinker with experience building experiences around content discovery, recommendation systems, and merchandising strategies across a variety of user contexts.

  • Exceptional interaction design, visual design, and prototyping skills. You know how to translate complex problems into elegant, human-centered solutions that resonate.

  • Ability to operate at both the systems level and the craft level, defining holistic experiences while sweating the details that bring them to life.

  • Comfortable leading through ambiguity — able to create clarity and alignment across cross-functional teams while balancing user needs, business goals, and technical possibilities.

  • Strong communication skills — articulate in presenting your work, your thinking, and your rationale to partners, peers, and leadership.

  • Demonstrated experience driving collaboration across teams and disciplines, while maintaining a clear, user-first vision.

  • Passionate about AI-powered experiences, personalization, and the role of design in shaping how people engage with content.

  • Recognized for your high design bar — in both your strategic approach and your attention to detail — and for inspiring teams to raise theirs.
