Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Service NPI Program Manager serves as a key representative of the Service organization within the Product Life Cycle (PLC) team. This role ensures that service delivery becomes a meaningful value differentiator by driving service readiness, quality, and serviceability throughout product development.

The Service NPI Program Manager owns overall service readiness and leads Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives for the product. This critical, highly cross‑functional role directly influences customer satisfaction by ensuring timely and effective execution of a product support plan including parts, documentation, tooling, and training—aligned to PLC milestones. The position also supports service revenue and margin objectives by managing service costs and enabling service contract penetration.

A successful candidate brings deep knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, global service operations, and product support planning, and thrives in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives with a focus on product reliability, maintainability, and cost of service.
  • Manage end‑to‑end service readiness across design, alpha, and beta phases to ensure a smooth and successful product launch.
  • Own the Voice of Business process by gathering and aligning global service requirements to drive hardware and software serviceability improvements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive product support plans, including spare parts strategy, service documentation, early training programs, and installation readiness.
  • Drive service‑related financial objectives, including service cost targets, contract enablement, and service gross margin performance.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Customer Support teams.
  • Define and deliver required service tooling and diagnostics to meet serviceability and financial requirements.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects to resolve product reliability issues, optimize installation and warranty costs, and reduce overall cost of service.
  • Support early field activities for early NPI products, including installations and escalations; requires hands‑on technical engagement and travel.

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and global service operations.
  • Experience in service requirements definition, product support planning, and NPI execution.
  • Broad technical exposure, including optics, robotics, electronics, and software.
  • Strong analytical, data analysis, system‑level troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, managers, SMEs, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working in collaborative team environments.
  • BS in Physics, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering with eight years of experience, or equivalent military technical experience required; MS preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in semiconductors or a closely related industry; Service NPI or Technical Support experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to (and occasionally exceeding) 25%.
