Staff Software Engineer (Remote)

In this role, you will help redefine what is possible with observability and security data. As part of the Engineering Team you will play an important role in bringing Imply Lumi to life. Lumi delivers lightning fast queries, significant cost savings and seamless integration with leading observability technologies while giving customers the freedom to innovate without vendor lock-in. You will be a part of the team innovating and building this first-in-class technology that allows our customers to unlock new levels of speed, scale and value from their data.

The Role

The Applications team at Imply is seeking a backend specialist with an interest in working with and on Apache Druid. Our team builds customer-facing applications leveraging the power of our database, Apache Druid, to simplify data management, ingestion, and analysis and to provide customers with powerful APIs and SDKs for integrating critical functionality into their automation and software. Applications is a full-stack team that builds across every layer of the product, from doing state-of-the-art database engineering through micro-services, all the way up to the UI.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain micro-services and backend software components in modern Java
• Develop and maintain state-of-the-art features within Apache Druid
• Lead in the design and development of major features across teams
• Coordinate directly with PM, UX design, frontend engineers, and backend engineers to successfully deliver major initiatives, new features, and products
• Be on-call for production issues (2 weeks per cycle, 4-6 times per year)

Requirements

• 5+ years experience building and maintaining highly scalable and reliable services in Java or a similar language
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, cloud providers such as AWS, and/or related technologies
• Experience using relational and/or OLAP databases
• Experience with agile methodologies
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Bonus Points

• Experience using Apache Druid
• Open source contributions to Apache Druid or other open source database
• Experience using streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink

Individual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications aligned with Imply’s internal levelings guidelines and benchmarks. The below range encompasses roles with on target earnings. This role is also eligible to participate in Imply’s equity plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.

Compensation: $165,000 - $220,000
