Tellius is a fast-growing AI analytics company headquartered in Reston, Virginia. We are transforming how enterprises interact with their data — moving beyond dashboards and static reports to an always-on, agentic intelligence platform that investigates, reasons, and delivers finished answers autonomously.

Our platform, powered by Kaiya — Tellius's AI agent — connects to all your enterprise data, automatically investigates what changed and why, and delivers board-ready briefings, memos, and presentations before you even ask. We serve some of the world's most innovative companies, including Novo Nordisk, PepsiCo, Regeneron, AbbVie, and Biogen — helping their teams go from question to decision in minutes, not days.

We are recognized as a Visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics & Business Intelligence Platforms, and we're just getting started. Our team is built for people who thrive on solving hard problems, moving fast, and building things that matter at enterprise scale.

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our AI team. This is a high-impact, IC-focused role for someone who wants to build scalable AI systems that power real-world decision-making.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect and implement core infrastructure for AI agents and orchestration (e.g., LangChain, custom frameworks)
  • Build and optimize backend services using Python and SQL to support AI workloads
  • Engage with design partners and early customers to validate architecture, use cases, and product direction
  • Develop robust data pipelines and work with large, complex datasets
  • Contribute to agentic application design, grounding LLMs in structured data and business logic
  • Collaborate with AI researchers, product managers, and design to ship production-ready features
  • Collaborate with and mentor junior engineers
What We’re Looking For

Must-Have Experience:

  • 2-6 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Deep knowledge of AI engineering and agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar)
  • Strong backend skills with Python, SQL, and database design
  • Experience working with data systems and building scalable infrastructure

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Spark, Scala, or distributed compute frameworks
  • Exposure to AI applications in B2B or enterprise environments
  • Previous experience at an early-stage startup
  • Familiarity with data engineering, ETL pipelines, or analytics workflows
Why Tellius
  • Work at the cutting edge of AI and decision intelligence
  • Small team, big ownership. Your work will directly shape the product
  • Opportunity to help define a new category: agentic business intelligence
  • Collaborative team with strong product-market momentum

Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $190,000 – $230,000 USD per year.
This range is determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location, and may vary depending on qualifications. Equity and benefits are also part of the total compensation package.
