Job Description
As a Staff Solutions Engineer at Onehouse, you will operate as a technical thought leader and trusted advisor to our most strategic customers. You’ll go beyond implementation to drive architectural decisions, influence product strategy, and mentor both customers and internal teams. This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role at the intersection of engineering, product, and go-to-market. You’ll be a visible face of Onehouse in the modern data community and play a key role in shaping how companies build their next-generation data lakehouses. You will establish trust in the organization to build and scale the team during our next phase of company growth.
Responsibilities
- Partner with customers during pre-sales to understand needs, design solutions, and position Onehouse effectively.
- Drive technical onboarding for enterprise customers, sometimes directly, sometimes by guiding a team.
- Lead incident response and resolution for customer-facing escalations, ensuring transparency and trust throughout the process.
- Build demos, solution guides, and technical content for sales and marketing enablement.
- Contribute to the open source community and represent Onehouse at industry events.
- Develop high-leverage internal tooling, frameworks, and content to scale the solutions engineering function.
- Mentor other Solutions Engineers and broader GTM team members.
- Analyze recurring pain points and partner with Engineering and Product teams to influence roadmap direction.
Must Haves
- 8+ years of experience working directly with customers on technical engagements.
- 8+ years of experience with major cloud providers like AWS, GCP or Azure.
- 5+ years of deep experience with Apache Spark and knowledge on Spark’s runtime internals, query tuning, performance tuning, troubleshooting and debugging Spark solutions.
- Extensive technical experience building, operating, and troubleshooting diverse data engineering pipelines with tools like Kafka, Flink, Presto/Trino, DBT, Airflow, Parquet.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills being able to synthesize technical topics for both executive and technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of cross-functional collaboration and leadership without authority.
- Experience with modern data lakehouse technologies like Apache Hudi, Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
- Strong opinions on how the future of open data infrastructure should be built and the skills to influence it.
