POSITION SUMMARY:

The Strategic Contract Specialist plays a critical role in managing contracts with suppliers, vendors, laboratory equipment service, raw materials, and outsourced manufacturing. Role is responsible for overseeing contract execution, critical terms negotiated, and management of contracts with suppliers, vendors, and service providers. This role ensures that agreements align with the company's supply chain strategies, regulatory requirements, and financial goals while minimizing risk and optimizing performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contract Management: Develop, assist in negotiations, and administer supply chain contracts, ensuring terms and conditions align with company policies.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in supply agreements and develop mitigation strategies with sourcing and Purchasing teams.
  • Compliance & Legal Oversight: Work closely with legal, procurement, and finance teams to ensure all contracts meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyze contract terms to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure value for money in procurement processes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track supplier performance against contract KPIs and SLAs, addressing any deviations or issues proactively.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve contract disputes, renegotiations, or amendments to ensure mutual satisfaction and business continuity.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance contract management processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
     

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in contract management, procurement, or supply chain operations, preferably in a large or multi-site organization.
  • Background in contract law is preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel.
  • Previous experience working in biotech a plus


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of contract law, procurement best practices, and supplier management. Proficiency in contract management software and ERP systems.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple contracts simultaneously.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to analyze complex contracts and ensure all terms are met effectively.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, compliance requirements, and best practices in supply chain management.
  • Travel: Some travel may be required
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
