About Kick

Kick is an applied AI company building the first done-for-you bookkeeping experience. We’ve raised $20M from OpenAI, General Catalyst, and Google Ventures to help millions of business owners and accountants automate the boring stuff so they can focus on what matters most.

About the role

We’re looking for a Strategic Finance & Operations Lead who is excited to use an analytical ability to solve financial and cross-functional operational challenges at a rapidly growing applied AI company. This is an in-person role with a chance to meaningfully shape how we transition from an early stage to a generational technology company.

You will
  • Partner with the CEO to build and own financial models, investor decks, and board reporting as we march toward our Series A and scale to $10M+ ARR and beyond.
  • Partner with Growth to track and optimize CAC, LTV, payback period, NRR, conversion rates, and channel performance across our SMB and Accountant GTM motions.
  • Partner with multiple functions to own quarterly financial reporting, revenue operations, and our operating rhythm
  • Lead special projects across M&A, fundraising, and internal operations.
We're looking for someone who
  • Has 4–7+ years of experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Private Equity, or high-growth startup operations.
  • Has a deep understanding of unit economics and the metrics that drive B2B SaaS businesses at each stage of growth.
  • Has strong technical skills in Excel/Sheets, financial modeling and dashboards; SQL and BI tools are a plus.
  • Is a strong communicator with natural curiosity and business judgment; you ask great questions and can identify what really moves the needle.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and knows how to make progress without perfect information.
Bonus if
  • You’ve started your own company or been through a fundraising cycle (Seed through Series B) at a high-growth B2B SaaS company or helped scale revenue to $20M+ ARR.
  • You have an advanced degree (MBA, CPA, CFA or equivalent).
Location
  • Downtown Palo Alto, in person, 4 days per week.
  • 1 block from the Palo Alto Caltrain Express stop.
  • Candidates should be based in the Bay Area or open to relocation.
What we offer
  • $190,000-$240,000 per year + meaningful equity
  • Employee-friendly equity (QSBS eligible)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • Apple laptop/headset, health/commuter stipends
  • Daily snacks, lunch and unlimited Verve coffee

We’re building a world-class team of creative thinkers and doers from diverse backgrounds. If you’re excited by this role, even if your experience isn’t a perfect match, we’d love to hear from you.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
