United Therapeutics (Nasdaq: UTHR) seeks to travel down the corridors of indifference to develop treatments for rare, deadly diseases. We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

The Strategic Operations Programs Manager, Market Access serves as a strategic operator and program leader with a strong focus on digital marketing, translating Market Access priorities into structured project plans, governance models, and decisionready materials, aligning stakeholders across Market Access, Pricing & Contracting, HEOR, Medical Affairs, Brand Marketing, Trade and Distribution, Patient Services, Legal, and Compliance, and driving timely, coordinated delivery of critical access workstreams including launch readiness, payer policy engagement, value communication enablement, and operational process improvements.

  • Own end-to-end program management for priority Market Access initiatives, including launch readiness, payer policy projects, pull-through plans, digital marketing platform, and value communication programs
  • Translate strategy into executable, integrated workplans that define scope, milestones, dependencies, resourcing, risks and mitigations, and success measures
  • Establish and lead cross-functional project governance through steering committees, workstreams, status reporting, and defined escalation pathways
  • Partner with cross-functional leads across Market Access, Commercial, Medical, and Operations to align objectives, clarify ownership, and ensure effective handoffs
  • Drive timely decision-making by developing options, trade-offs, and recommendations; documenting outcomes, and ensuring follow-through on agreed actions
  • Coordinate and manage external vendors and partners to deliver against defined timelines, scope, budget, and performance expectations
  • Develop and maintain integrated plans and materials to support internal readiness, including launch calendars, cross-functional playbooks, training plans, and executive updates
  • Create and evolve standardized templates, toolkits, and tracking mechanisms to improve consistency, efficiency, and scalability across programs
  • Support preparation for key payer conferences and internal meetings by coordinating content development, reviews, and logistics across stakeholders
  • Partner with analytics teams to define and monitor KPIs and dashboards that track access objectives, project outcomes, and operational performance
  • Synthesize insights from coverage policies, guidelines, and market dynamics into clear, actionable updates for senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Ensure project activities and deliverables comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies by coordinating Legal, Compliance, and Medical reviews and maintaining audit-ready documentation
  • Build and refine scalable, repeatable processes across Market Access, including planning cycles, vendor onboarding, and content development workflows

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, life sciences, public health, health policy, or a related field with 8+ years of relevant experience in market access and/or payer marketing in the pharma/biotech industry or
  • Master's Degree with 6+ years of relevant experience in market access and/or payer marketing in the pharma/biotech industry
  • 4+ years of omnichannel marketing experience, including digital marketing
  • 2+ years of demonstrated success managing cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams, dependencies, and senior stakeholder visibility
  • Working understanding of the U.S. healthcare payer landscape, including commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid, with knowledge of coverage and utilization management concepts such as prior authorization, step therapy, formularies, and access stakeholder needs
  • Proficiency with digital marketing software and platforms, including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, SEO tools, social media management tools, and email marketing platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop executive-ready updates, synthesize complex information, and influence without formal authority
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, as well as common project management tools such as Smartsheet or MS Project as applicable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in business administration, public health, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in HEOR, contracting support, consulting, life sciences, and/or commercial operations roles
  • PMP - Program Management Professional
  • Experience supporting product launches and/or major indication expansions with Market Access-related deliverables
  • Experience in rare disease and/or specialty product environments, including buy-and-bill, specialty pharmacy, and site-of-care dynamics
  • Experience with payer policy engagement, value communication strategy, or evidence generation planning in partnership with HEOR and Medical stakeholders
  • Experience managing external vendors, including contract negotiations, statements of work, and budget oversight

Location

United Therapeutics has the flexibility to hire this role remotely within the United States.

The salary range for this position is $121,000 - $165,000 and reflects our good-faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs, as well as other factors permitted by law at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future based on company and market factors.
